"Screaming hate and brandishing vile placards, Muslim extremists and far-Right groups clashed yesterday in ugly scenes that marred a parade by soldiers.

Around 40 members of a group called Muslims Against the Crusades (MAC) arrived with inflammatory banners featuring slogans such as 'Butchers return' and 'What are you dying for? £18k'.

They were soon confronted by 100 people, some wearing English Defence League T-shirts, who shouted 'scum' and 'Muslim bombers off our streets'"

The best had to be this:

".....while the mainly white crowd opposite, some of whom are believed to have been BNP supporters, threw frozen pork sausages and chanted 'scum' and 'Allah, Allah, who the f*** is Allah?' "

Frozen pork sausages? Now there's a bucket full of win right there!

Seriously, tho, what bothered me is this:

"But Barking and Dagenham Muslim councillor Manzour Hussain said: 'MAC do not represent the vast majority of law-abiding, peaceful Muslim members of society who respect Britain's Armed Forces and the work they do.' "

Then why aren't the "vast majority of law-abiding, peaceful Muslim members of society" aren't doing something to help quell the radicals and prevent incidents like this from happening?

It's cool to have an opinion, it's not cool to show your ass. And of course there were elements from many factions around that day - soldiers were marching.

what I find ironic is most of those guys shouting hate were probably born in England anyways.

If they dont like it then why not go "home" to the land they are defending, and help the people there. Help rebuild houses. teach young afganistan children how to read and write, give them an education, so they have options other than joining local militia when they grow up.

Instead of spouting vile hatred, towards the soldiers, who didnt choose to be there. I dont agree with our occupation either, but im not going to do that.

This is sad, so sad. No matter how much you disagree with the war or the jobs that the soldiers are doing, these are just kids trying to get by, like everyone else. If it wasn't these soldiers, it would be somebody else. They certainly don't deserve this treatment.

Probably the same reason that Christians aren't doing enough to keep other Christians from molesting children, forcibly converting others or imposing their will on everyone else. Probably the same reason that Jews are not doing enough to quell the genocides taking place in Israel/Palestine.

It isn't Islam's fault that some Muslims are going to extremes. In fact, all Abrahamic religions have extremists among their ranks. It just so happens that western policy is oppressing many Islamic countries, turning out extremists like a factory turns out cars. Many people are turning to extremism as a last hope to fight back western encroachment and oppression.

The fact is, we install brutal dictators to rape the natural resources of these Islamic countries. These brutal dictators often replace democratically elected governments. We then back these dictators to ensure that they remain in rule, all the while they keep the people in poverty and commit human rights abuses against them.

Then we move on to Israel, a western and particularly American backed nation. America is basically funding Israel's campaign of genocide against the Palestinians. We arm them and fund them. The Palestinians are seen as the "holy Arabs" by other Muslims due to the holy land. The Al-Aqsa Mosque is one of the most holy places on Earth for Islam and it is threatened by America's backing of Israel. Without America, Israel would no longer be able to threaten and bully the Middle East, the cradle of Islam.

With all of that being said, I'm not condoning or even making excuses for the actions of those protestors. I'm only trying to point out that it is not the responsibility of Muslims to quell a group of people who happen to share the same religion. That notion is not only ridiculous, but it's absurd as well.

Yeah, everyone is entitled to an opinion, but why is it OK for Muslims (or anyone for that matter) think it's OK to give Soldiers a ration of crap? Since when did it become open season on shouting hate to Troops?

Nah, people know about Muslims and pork, and act accordingly. Funny, but actually a waste of good sausage.

And my question is why does it seem that it's OK for anyone to talk smack to Troops and think they can get away with it? I know if it was the other way around, a group of people calling Muslims in a parade "rag heads", there'd be a lot of people screaming for "hate crime" charges to be filed.

The Muslims have a genuine grievance as to the treatment and destruction of their ways of life in the Middle East by such soilders. They are no heroes. The American soilders are no hereos.

We cannot debate or discuss this incident on this street without going back over 100 years when the British and French were tearing apart the Middle East and Northern Africa.

I can only encourage you to either read a book on the subject by Robert Fisk or even watch a lecture he gave called 'The age of the warrior'. It's fascinating and you may learn something that will change your opinion, not only about the ME, but about the very need for war also.

Where did you feel the need to change that quote that was taken from the source and use it to attack me? If anyone is showing their ass, it ain't me. All I thought was funny was the throwing of the sausages. That, and your failure at reading comprehension.

So, is it your opinion that the Soldiers and anyone supporting them had to STFU and take whatever the Muslims were screaming at them? That freedom of speech is a one way road?

MMMMMM, pork sausage. I've seen the videos and if I was a returning soldier on parade and saw this going on in my backyard I might think my job was'nt done yet! "Sharia law will be in England before democracy will be in Afganistan" one of their signs read!! They may be right on the democracy part but on the sharia statement, well lets just say,EDIT!
