looks like some british scientists have gotten us one more step towards star wars. it says when they tested it that the tank survived multiple rocket attacks that would normally have easily destroyed it.

Ok, so the DoD has at least 3 robot war machines...lazers and EM weapons are pretty common, and now force fields.

Fun times to be had if there is ever a WW3. I fear the secret stuff we still don't know about.

Thats really neat, use the action of the weapon against itself. The very action of armor penetration completing a high voltage circuit. Working around electricity I have seen fist size holes blown into metal parts pretty much instantainously - I can actually see this working as a countermeasure.

Kudo's to the Boffins!

No kidding, that's such a simple concept, but its quite clever. I hope they don't end up calling it a force field though. How about a 'circuit shell' or 'short armour'? Force field makes you think of that glowing blue stuff around spaceships.

Invented a better mousetrap they did.

Interesting. One thing that occurs to me is that the explanation of how it works exactly matches some of the theories about the stealth bomber and the anti-grav system it uses. Hmmm.

Its inevitable , in some future war a tank commander will spot a enemy on his tactical display and yell at his weapons officer to "raise the shields".
Star Trek lingo is part of the language now like it or not.
