Well what can I say...
People voted for Hope & Change.

As for me I have just 2 words:

Enforce It?

Just another thing to add to the list of Government Abuses.

Eventually we will either wake up or be slaves just like in 1984.

I for one will never be a slave I'd rather die fighting tyranny.

There's a lot of ignorance happening in this thread starting with the title!

There's no MANDATE, no MAKING anyone do anything... it's to set up a council of people to look into health and education... wake up.

There is a number of dangerous people living amongst us. These are the ones who are kidnapping your friends and family for their sick pleasure. I welcome "The realization of 1984" if it stops potential serial killers and kidnappers in their developmental stages. Oregon just lost a kid to one of these jerks.

I say bring on the peace and security!

Remember the guy who kidnapped that girl in her early years? She was found as an adult confinded to the nappers back yard. This guy was sick in the head. On his website he said angels were talking to him. A big problem with people today is that they are isolating themselves and that can cause them to dwell on unimaginable things.

If you don't want Big Brother to take over, you better round up all the crazies we haven't found yet. You'll have to go door to door to find them all!

Sec. 2. Membership.
(a) The Surgeon General shall serve as the Chair of the Council, which shall be composed of:
(1) the Secretary of Agriculture;
(2) the Secretary of Labor;
(3) the Secretary of Health and Human Services;
(4) the Secretary of Transportation;
(5) the Secretary of Education;
(6) the Secretary of Homeland Security;
(7) the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency;
(8) the Chair of the Federal Trade Commission;
(9) the Director of National Drug Control Policy;
(10) the Assistant to the President and Director of the Domestic Policy Council;
(11) the Assistant Secretary of the Interior for Indian Affairs;
(12) the Chairman of the Corporation for National and Community Service; and
(13) the head of any other executive department or agency that the Chair may, from time to time, determine is appropriate.
(b) The Council shall meet at the call of the Chair.

Well it would appear that are Surgeon General will now actually be a general leading the troops. That is the storm troopers.
Obama and the rest of these far left nut jobs (no offence Nancy) know that there is no way they can generate enough taxes from you and I to pay for our new socialistic medical plan. They will need to wage a campaign, or war if you prefer, led by our Surgeon General to tax out of existence all the evil vices of our lives.
But what they fail to realize is that these various “unhealthy” things and more risky behaviors are what make us human. Would you give up all the crazy reckless behavior of your youth just to save the FED a few dollars on the coast of your heath care? I shore wouldn’t, they were the best years of my life, as I’m sure many of you here would agree.
So where are they going with this? Will we be forced to eat only the federal soil and green that they have deemed approved for consumption.?
Will we be denied alcohol, tobacco, coffee, soda , candy, etc?
Will risky activities like sky diving or rock climbing be deemed to dangerous and banned?
Will fire arms be outlawed because they are dangerous?
Could I be arrested for running with scissors ???
If we allow the government to go down the path of “we are doing this for your own good because you are to stupid to think for your self” mentality, then America and what little freedom we have left will be gone.
Socialism always comes in the form of a helping and caring hand for the suffering and then…. by the point of a gun.
So the question is what are you going to do about it.

If the governments want to see us in good health, why do they allow all the crappy drinks and foods? There was a thread a few weeks ago about the US gov saying Doritos were a healthy food...

Still believe he wants your good? Well, he does, but not the one you think.

With all due respect, take your own advice please. With the Health Care legislation passed, it was only a matter of time that something like this would be put into effect because at the end of the day, the powers that be will trot out "but it's for your own good" to subvert any sort of liberty left.

There was also a time when they said flouridation was good for you as well. You'll to excuse me if I look at several of you asking "what's the big deal" with a somewhat jaundiced eye.

You can have no liberty in the assurance of safety.

Or vaccines, or Flouride, or Monsanto, or growth hormones, yadda yadda yadda.

I don't think this has anything to do with health and since Tuskeegee and MK Ultra, I am very skeptical of any sort of "do gooder" thing the government comes up with.

Another thought on this:

I pay an outrageous sum for health insurance premiums(self-employed biz owner for 25 years) for 2 very healthy adults every month "because" we all know what one health related catastrophy can cost....everything you have without insurance!

They USED TO gve me "wellness" allowances for my preventative yearly exams and a discount for my healthclub memberships...all gone.

If this flippin' administration REALLY wanted to "insist on health" a better way to do it MIGHT be to actually reward those who get it right rather than to continue to subsidize bad behavior and/or now insist on more "change?"

How about an incentive for those of us who pay in the long run for those those that DON'T take care of themselves? I personally don't care what people chose to do but do believe it's ass-backwards...

Also: we haven't even BEGUN to see the health-related issues that is oil-dump situation will NO DOUBT be a direct cause of...how will they insist that these folks who will almost assuredly have some respitory issues "get all healthy" when they will do little else for them?

I am finally fed up.

Great post! It made me think of the following:

I'm curious if the Administration will deny benefits and coverage to those first responders in the Gulf like the 9/11 first responders. The criminal Bush Administration has denied medical attention for these heroes as well as the Obama Administration, which sort of flies in the face of all of this promotional good health talk.

You know what , if America proved as a nation that it could look after its own health needs , and that none would deliberately give themselves a condition which cost the tax payer more money than the tax payer can afford then I would be totaly flabbergasted by this intrusion into the daily life of American people.
HOWEVER, while I understand that this does not apply to everyone in your nation there are still many times the normal amount of ridiculously obese people in America. Each of them probably costing thier weight in dollars to provide medical care for, not all of whom can afford to pay themselves . And Im not talking about people who put on a few over Christmas or thanksgiving holidays, Im talking about 30stone and upward of pure rippling, unchecked fat with NO reason. Not only are there more fat americans than there ought to be, but those people are pound for pound heavier than fat people from other nations. Me? Im getting a bit tubby for my liking, and have reigned in the consumption a little... I weigh 13stone, Im five foot ten, and I have a forty four inch chest and a thirty six inch waist. In America seems there are people who weigh TWICE that who are just thinking "Oh snap, seems as though I ought to cut out twinkies for a few weeks." BULL! That crap has to stop if people dont want a national intervention and it has to stop today ! But it wont because you know what? People are to used to the idea that you can do what you want, eat whatever you like, live however you want to live, and no one can do anything about it for fear of litigation. Well without wanting to sound to harsh about it , that ride is over.

THIS IS HILARIOUS!

I can't believe how many in this thread can read THE ACTUAL EXECUTIVE ORDER and come away with anything other than that it's an ADVISORY COUNCIL....Multiple people in this thread have pointed it out but obviously a majority of you don't wanna hear it

For people who follow the motto "Deny Ignorance" you guys can really twist and spin things to become the most ignorant thread in "recent threads".

NO WHERE in the Executive Order does it say the Behavior Modifications will be mandatory. I think I'm starting to understand why the left calls "tea party" members kooks...I mean COME ON...

Please, before anyone posts more babel about how Obama is taking away our freedoms will they please read the bill and realize this Executive Order is not mandating ANYTHING other than the creation of an ADVISORY BOARD to come up with ways to HELP Americans become more healthy...

MAJOR FAIL on the twist the source and others in this thread put on the Executive Order

P.S: This would be a wonderful reason for ATS to add a "negative/ subtract Stars & Flags" feature. That way when I read this propagandist drivel I can vote it down....Would teach ATS members not to use such BIAS when posting information.

On a side note, THANK YOU OP for bringing this to my attention, I never knew President Obama actually cared that I'm already addicted to cigarettes at the age of 19. Makes me think twice about quitting now that I know the Govt. for once, actually cares.

I'd be curious to see how many of my fellow "Fat Americans" (Fellow as in American, not as in Fat...since I'm in shape) will scream injustice. I CAN SEE IT NOW: Rush Limbaugh on his show: "Put down that Big Mac folks...The Obama Regime has done it now, he doesn't want you filling yer piehole with more fat and grease than actual food... This is absurd....If you can manage to roll off the couch, please express yer outrage by buying 2 BIG MACS this time"

On an even FUNNIER Side note, for a second there I couldn't remember Rush's name, so I just googled " Fat Right Wing Talk show host " ... Anyone wanna guess what the first result was?

Google Search for "Fat Right Wing Talk Show host"

A bit more,I'm on a FED UP roll this am,LOL!

Take this with a grain of salt of course but are they REALLY spraying in the areas?

______beforeitsnews/news/79/122/BP_Crop_Dusting_U.S._Population_Under_the_Cover_of_Night.html

"Corexit is one of the deadly neurotoxins that is being continually sprayed on the Gulf oil spill. Now according to numerous witnesses, under the cover of night, this deadly chemical is being sprayed very close to if not on populations throughout the Gulf. On Veritas Radio, James Fox and a co reporter were quoted as saying, “It is literally falling in peoples back yards, priority # 1 should be to mobilize a movement to stop the use of dispersants” In a nut shell, they are crop dusting the U.S. population with a deadly pesticide"

I am not familar with the source but this info is starting to come out: can we even IMAGINE th ramifications of such a situation?

I honestly don't dwell on conspiracy too much,LOL! I prefer to send out the positive...

BUT,the damn pieces are starting to come together in such a way that it's all hard to just ignore.

I'm also beginning to believe that this "escrow fund" PB will be "demanded to set up" and that the Government "will be taking control of the claims to the affected people..."
is yet another gamble: how many could die from this thus reducing the "need" for wither payouts or health-care?

I am sick about it all this am...will probably watch that assclown in the Oval office at 8pm and hurl food at the screen...

Nah, what's even funnier about "obese Americans" is that they won't "give up twinkies". They'll just switch to half the fat ones and eat double.

It's worse than you think, folks. I actually dared to do what many of you were too scared to do...

I read the article!

Here's what we have in store for us... are you ready for this?

worksite health promotion; community services, including community health centers; preventive medicine; health coaching; public health education; geriatrics; and rehabilitation medicine.

/sarcasm

Use reading comprehension and critical thinking, folks. Also, try to understand something before you decide to be afraid of it or enraged about it.

This issue is pretty much a red flag to a bull for me. I get told by the media that I shouldnt eat this, and I shouldnt do that all damned day ... But I do . I eat nothing but dead animal, and my hobbies are relaxing and involve little to no heart rate change. But I walk everywhere and work out every day .I dont kill myself at it, but it gets done . I only eat one meal a day, not because I am afraid of getting fat, but because I only NEED one meal a day . Its about wastefullness, and realising that just because you cleared your plate doesnt mean you didnt waste your food.
