Bookmarking threads/posts in your profile?

Have been browisng around various places and was given a rather cool idea.

Over my time here on ATS, I have often read about how some members wish to retrieve certain posts or topics but are unable to find them or they make a thread asking for help to find it.

How about a bookmark section in your profile whee you can bookmark threads or single posts in order to create a list of useful things that each member may feel they need to have a quick reference to?

Some of the members here make a lot of threads/posts and the profiles only retain so much history. Obviously a lot of this history is not going to be needed, but certain parts will be.

Would a bookmark feature be a help or a hindrance?

I would love to have this feature too - or at the least - to have subscribed threads not expire.

I would also like this feature.

And find it useful.

Expanding our bookmark quota will also be a good thing to put in the ATS store so we have more things to buy with our endless points.

Create a folder in your "local" bookmarks tab in your web browser. Label it "noteworthy ATS threads/posts" then start adding threads to your list. Free solution...doesn't require any additional site storage; all you should have to do is press "ctrl+D" to bookmark a page.

Unless you're someone like me who is sometimes in need of a computer and uses the library or a friends, and they wont have my bookmarks.

sometimes I find myself in other countries and carrying my PC is not exactly a thing I care to do too often. Even a laptop is a burden at airports.

Then, if you're a Firefox user, like i happen to be, you might get the extraordinary event of losing all your bookmarks when Firefox decides to go wrong...which it did... twice..

It could even be helpful in other ways. possibly even viewable by other members like our posts and threads are.

I used to keep a folder in my bookmarks so I could refer back to threads and a record of good posts on a document (with links). Lost them in a hard drive meltdown

You can see the threads you've posted on or subscribed to in the Member Center...'Manage Subscriptions.' It's useful if you don't 'unsubscribe' from threads that are haunting your 'My ATS' page.

If you want to find specific posts, you can use Google by combining the site name with your member name and topic keyword/s. Example: "abovetopsecret.com" Extralien Dr Crippen Good thread!

As a member of a couple of other sites that do use the bookmarking threads/topics feature, I can say it's a useful function. For now though, I'm back to bookmarking threads into an 'ATS Folder.'

good idea. I end up with far to many bookmarks on my computer..
I would like a part in my profile that stores all the articles I added text to.

I'm a gypsy too.

My bookmark directory is on a usb flash. Give it a try, flash is the future. You can get an 1 gig flash for under $5. You can get an easy travel, external usb hard drive, that fits in the palm of your hand, will boot in your personal favourite OS (I like Ubuntu), on any PC, with 160 gigs of space for under $50 on ebay.
