According to the source, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says the Iranian Red Crescent vessels will carry "volunteer marines" of the
Revolutionary Guards "who will teach the Israelis a lesson."

In addition, more ominously, the article quotes him as saying that the showdown between Turkey and Israel, "will change many issues in the world and
mark the final countdown for Israel's existence. It shows that it has no room in the region and no one is ready to live alongside it."
It seems from this that perhaps Iran, and its newfound ally Turkey, feel now is the right time to directly confront Israel...not only in terms of the
blockade of Gaza, but also to begin to bring about Israel's de-existence.
They were successful in baiting Israel into a bloody clash with the first Turkish convoy, and thus to create a groundswell of international
condemnation against the Jewish State. It looks like the next step is to paint Israel into a corner against Iranian forces...from which it will fight
its way out.
This would be used to either turn the world even more against Israel - or to be used as the pretext for an Iranian and/or Turkish first strike. If
Israel sees that coming (which it likely would), then in fact they will be baited into acting against Iran...perhaps before they (and the US?) are
fully ready.
It is difficult to say for sure exactly what angle the Iranians are playing here...but it certainly seems like they are steadily moving toward
creating conditions that will result in direct military conflict with Israel - and possibly full a scale war that (they hope) would bring about the
destruction of Israel.
I am interested in all thoughts and comments...what is Iran's real strategy here? Are we on the verge of a large scale Middle East war?
