I dont know. You have good reasoning, and it makes sense that that could be the case.........if they released a clump of cables all at once.

But, if they wait, release one or two, wait, release another, wait, etc., how will they know the leaks were from Manning or another source?

True, the mere fact that they are cables may clue them in, but they need more than to KNOW it, they need to PROVE it in a court. Another thing Wikileaks could do is have the cables re submitted from various places to give false beginning points, now that Manning is in custody.

I think there are ways around it, IF they have them. It may just require time and patience to get around it.

cash would do just fine. i'm pretty sure with 250 millions involve, there are smart people involved. the brain would send two guys to collect the money, if anything happen to them, the information would be released. after inspection of the cash, verifying its authenticity, no tracking devices etc... the money, the information, and the brain are never to be in the same place at the same time. should anything happen in the process of laundering the money, the information would be released. the money is now untraceable, the people involved are sipping on pina colada and the government get their information. the end. i should make a movie, the biggest most daring heist of all time.

It IS a crime to withold evidence of a known crime.

And in an ironic twist, he could of actually been charged for concealing evidence of a crime.. Damned if ya do, Damned if ya dont....

WikiLeaks has already posted 1 cable on their website earlier in the year....Perhaps a month or two ago.... It's not 100% certain if this is from the same batch....but it's QUITE possible and plausible

Was they to execute this guy then if you had the smoking gun would you not just publish the lot and then lets see who else get executed for treason.

To all of you who think there is a chance they will want to trade the cables for the prisoner ... that will just NOT happen , and here is why .

Those cables were in a digital format (as in this was not a briefcase with papers) so the government will never have 100% assurance that they did receive the only copy of the cables. I mean how hard is it to make backup copies of pdf (or any other file format for that matter) files ?

There will be no trade , because lets face it , if the gov would be so stupid as to go on with something like that then after a month after the "trade" , all those cables would magically reappear and get released (if wikileaks is really run by at least decent level IQ people ).

So this concludes that the gov is not holding the prisoner as ransom lol

The only question is if wikileaks really has the cables or not . If they do , they will release them , and if they do not then this will have nothing to do with the prisoner

We will likely never see them if Wikileaks isn't willing to release them now. The Gov will postpone by holding him long enough that they can go and get the info and shut it down. Then they will execute him.

this is why you should find no person credible. Only what they say should be up for review. You never know who that person is that is going to be turning you in. Trust no one. No one. Not even your friends. It will only make them choose between loyalty to you, or death. That isn't a fair choice to have them make.

I'm guessing they'll post a batch file as fast as it takes to review a quarter million cables. Maybe a preliminary taster?

The video release took 2 months.

The amount of data in 260, 000 cables should take time to sift through and identify what deserves publication and what doesn't...or shouldn't.

I guess Assange and the people in receipt of this data are running on adrenaline and little sleep. Until we know what skeletons are rattling in the closets...it's just speculation.

Just saw on FOX news that an FBI manhunt is underway for the founder!!! Did he ever have anything to say about alien/extraterrestrial activity? That would be something if he had some definitive proof from NASA or some other avenue.

I can't create a new post because I haven't commented 20 times yet, but I just wanted to relate a series of bizarre events and see if anyone else who follows or posts on these kinds of events (Wikileaks, BP, suppressed information) has had similar experiences -- will someone please move this to a new thread???

This may have nothing at all to do with the Wikileaks story, but I've been doing a lot of research on it (I write fiction and often I find inspiration in current events), and it's the only even vaguely incriminating thing against me that I can think of. Anyways, my partner and I are planning a trip abroad and had to buy an international calling card to make a phone call to Australia. Purchased from AT&T with a debit card. Got a pop-up that said the order was being processed and we should receive an email within 2 hours with a PIN to use. Closed that window, tried to go to another web page, and the browser immediately crashed. Restarted the computer, and got an error message saying we need to do a repair install of Vista. So, we checked email on another computer...4 hours later, still no PIN. But my partner's bank acct shows the charge pending...THIS IS WHERE IT GETS WEIRD...

So, he calls AT&T to complain, and eventually they give him a PIN, but they make him answer a bunch of questions of the variety "Do you know such-and-such person?" I asked my partner who, like "do you know Osama Bin Laden?" -- and he said no, he didn't recognize any of the names at all.

Why is AT&T making people answer questions about whether they "know" certain people before letting them use international calling cards?? Or are they just asking US for some reason? Neither one of us has any criminal record. It just seems like weird harassment - is this some standard procedure I'm not aware of? It reminds me of that old 60s movie where the phone company secretly rules the world.

ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS EXPERIENCE???
