For those of you wanting to end the buzzing sound of the horns and are watching the games on your computer or recording later. Here is how you can create a filter to almost completely eliminate the buzzing noise.

Basically, if you can filter out sound at 233, 466, 932 and 1864 Hz you will have killed 95 percent (estimated from my own experience) of the noise and can save your liver from the copious amounts of pain killers you need to get rid of the headache after the game.

Instructions here for Windows or MAC users:

Get rid of the buzz ruining your World Cup

I just read the BBC are considering filtering them out now because of complaints, so everyone should send complaints to TV stations not that this benefits the players as noted earlier.
On a side note Fifa claimed they would ban them if they got played during anthems and I noticed them blaring when North Koreas anthem was on so I think it's safe to assume Fifa are liars and making money from these.

I seriously don't think an African nation should be allowed any world tournament ever again I've never seen a world cup as bad in every way.

edit: Just seen someone took my earlier Idea of inverting the sound for a filter and is charging for it now as an anti vuvuzela noise filtering mp3 although from comments it doesn't seem to work maybe they did it wrong as I think the theory is good.

Nope mp3 doesn't work it just makes it louder from what I can tell it's a shame the exact oppisite of the claims, it's apparent they didn't take just the base sounds, the mp3 actually contains match noises like whistles and so forth have to give credit for a quick attempt to cash in though.

Sven Wipperfürth (27) from Rommerskirchen, North Rhine Westfalen, is probably the first German vuvuzela victim. He is now on sick leave with tinnitus – a ringing in the ears – and a prescription.

It happened during Germany’s World Cup opener against Australia. Wipperfürth was at a public viewing event in Neuss and when Lukas Podolski scored the first goal, an anonymous trumpeter blasted him in the ear with a South African vuvuzela.

"It was so loud that I winced," Wipperfurth recalled. He had ringing and beeping in his ears after the incident.

The Germany fan went to the doctor who wrote him a sick note for five days and prescribed tablets for blood flow to the brain to be taken daily.

And Wupperfürth has sounded the alarm over the vuvuzelas: "These devil’s trumpets must be banned!"

It's going to be a serious problem! These things combined have been measured at around 140db. For 2hrs. There's going to be a lot of deaf people. All with A#3 missing from their hearing range

Seriously. What a dodgy decision. I'm guessing we're in the right place to discuss conspiracies, right?

That was shocking. In the replays, at least four Americans were being manhandled. Bradley was getting a big ol bearhug. No offside. But the foul goes against the US. And then the referee refuses to tell them what the foul was...

Very sad for the USA, and I was hoping the sport will gain popularity here... not very likely with crap rookie referees like this... what a disgrace.

The US players came back with a vengeance and OMG what a relentless goal from Donovan!!!

The vuvuzelas have landed here
On the way home tonight I was "seranaded" by one along with shouts of "MEXICOOOOOOO!!" and "ALGERIAAAAAAAA!"

Now that they are here, I sure they will spread like wildfire and destroy the habitat of a lot of native instruments...
