BBC sabotaging Press TV broadcasts

www.presstv.ir

The British Broadcasting Corporation is showering Afghan cable networks with lucrative deals to cut broadcastings of Iran's English-language news channel, Press TV.

The Press TV bureau in Kabul was informed on Wednesday that "a number of BBC employees have recently contacted the cable networks' union in Herat to persuade them into breaking contract with Press TV and blocking all satellite transmission of its programs."

"The BBC reportedly offered to triple the union's pay once it agrees to strip Press TV of its broadcasting rights in Herat," the bureau added.

That's so lame coming from a 'respected' media corporation claiming to be impartial. For a very long time I doubted the BBC's interests are with government propaganda. Are those practices illegal? Surely the afghan government ought to look into this matter and punish the BBC accordingly. Let the afghan people decide who they want to listen to!

Yes and what is wrong with that?! It's called competition. Poor islamic regime cannot spread it's propaganda anymore just when it's soon the 12th June - anniversary of last years election.

Perhaps the Iranian regime could stop their occasional physical disruption of European satellites using cancer causing microwave jamming signals just because the news station said something they didn't like, for a start. Or even better, why doesn't Khamenei just hurry up and die.

Please bear in mind that PressTV is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran! It is the mouthpiece of people like Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, that all round good egg and advocate of free speech.

I would take anything that is farted out from this extension of Iranian foreign policy with a bucket of salt.

The Iranians don’t like the BBC because the World Service can be picked up inside Iran and sometimes the truth hurts especially when it contradicts the party line.

Regards

I don't see what your problem is with competition. I assume you are from the West. Competition = capitalism and it's PressTV = the propaganda outlet of the mullahs.

"Competition"... it's just competition, that wonderful buzzword that, in a captitalist society, excuses the most underhand and vicious practices.

I'm a UK citizen who used to be proud of the BBC's reputation for impartiality. Duh. Now I know that they're the mouthpiece for MI5/6 and are engaged in deliberate manipulation of the news. This underhanded "competition" is just more of the same.

Good thing I don't pay my license fee.

Wishing anyone was dead is wrong, no matter the reason and says more about you than the person you wish was dead.

As for the BBC its just a rich old boys club that not only pushes or blocks agendas, it also uses statutes to steal taxes from you for total crap on their own channels.

Competition is good for all businesses, underhand tactics and propoganda moves to aid and abet a war with Iran is not good. If you cant tell the diffirence I presume thats your excuse for wishing people dead.

The Afghan government?

haahaaaaa

Are you kidding me, the Afghan government can't even stop the murder of innocent civilians by NATO, how the hell could they stop this?

click the yellow link in the bottom of my post.

Afghan government is not by the people of Afghanistan, and it is surely not for the people of Afghanistan.

Well Afghans don't like their crap so they bribe them and shove it down their throat while the NATO new operation is killing Afghan civilians and blaming it on the resistance. hahaha

This is all part of the new major NATO operation, the first supposed suicide attack was already exposed as not being a suicide bombing, now they want to make sure that the propaganda is there to back the operation.

And then some ATSers come and call it competition, if bribing was called competition, then surely we should allow private law enforcement agencies and let them compete as well lol.

The BBC are con artists, theives, criminals. I will never ever pay a single penny to them in license fees. As a downside I dont have a TV, but I dont really need one.

Its time this bunch of crooks were held criminally responsible and forced to pay every single person back.

I HATE this country and everything it stands for. The sooner this corrupt capitalist government and society is brought down, the better.

And wouuldnt it be nice if David Cameron got assassinated while he's in Afghanistan.

I know it would be nice, but I also know that they are gonna you put on watch list for that comment lol.

If they are spying on phones calls, and installing cameras then surely computer is even easier.

They just look for conjuncture of words, and then put your name in the watch list, then they will spy on you outside the cyber space.

Let's not forget, they have a lot of money for defense while the economy is getting screwed.

We can hardley expect the Afghan government to do anything as they are only a puppet government of the US occupation. Also, this is hardly surprising. Western MSM are so shady and are the least trusted news sources in the world, IMO. Shame on BBC though this isn't an isolated case.

BBC is very deliberate propaganda. Recall how, pre British Petro oil gash, these nwo spawn declared three times a day that the sky has fallen~ is it too late to stop global warming ~ each and every day. No thing was too small to mention, nor too small to blame.

My spidey senses always tell me when a 'news' outlet is lying. These guys are the creme de la creme of deception. No news agency will say anything that's not part of stacking the global deck. When the brits got their new PM, it was a matter of seconds before the nwo catchphrases began to come forward.

From the BBC website:

Impartiality lies at the heart of the BBC's commitment to its audiences. It applies across all of our services and output, whatever the format, from radio news bulletins via our web sites to our commercial magazines and includes a commitment to reflecting a diversity of opinion.

The Agreement accompanying the BBC's Charter requires us to produce comprehensive, authoritative and impartial coverage of news and current affairs in the UK and throughout the world to support fair and informed debate. It specifies that we should do all we can to treat controversial subjects with due accuracy and impartiality in our news services and other programmes dealing with matters of public policy or of political or industrial controversy. It also states that the BBC is forbidden from expressing an opinion on current affairs or matters of public policy other than broadcasting.

source: www.bbc.co.uk...

Heres a site going back 10 years with cases of alleged BBC bias:
www.labour-watch.com...

Make your own mind up. In my mind the BBC have betrayed us all and people need to wake up and stop paying their license fee.

Go for it Firefly_, no one is stopping you leaving the UK - if it's that bad I will even help you pack. Will you find somewhere else where you will fit in? I doubt it. Furthermore, I think it is nasty and unnecessary to wish the death of anyone, especially elected officials.

As this thread seems to have degenerated into an anti-BBC rant, I thought I would add a defence of the BBC, but keeping it within the context of the OP. Having lived in seven countries in my life and travelled to quite a few more I can tell you that the BBC is respected and stands above foreign press (even the “free press”). It is impartial and well reported. You may not like the messages you hear, or you may want it to cover stories differently, but it is quality and balanced news service.

Now, you can be sure that PressTV (which is owned by the Iranian state) is not impartial. It is most definitely an instrument of Iranian foreign policy. The BBC is not an instrument of the UK foreign policy and any assertion that it is (e.g. run by MI5/6) is pure fantasy and ridiculous.
