I say try whatever works and this looks like an inexpensive approach to doing some cleanup. Get several thousand of those things in the hands of some volunteers.




It looks really simple and significantly effective for the surface oil along the beaches.

Septic tank and porta potty sucker trucks.

There must be thousands in the US and they would work great.

By the way the hose the worker was using looks just like the ones used on septic tank and porta potty sucker trucks.

There is also a large number of industrial vacuum trucks.
