I apologize if this is already up

This story is currently breaking over the internet, all with unconfirmed reports that Grand Isle, Louisiana is being used as a staging point for possible mass evacuations of coastal regions by FEMA and other organizations. With troops carrying M-16 rifles, this isn't a knock-on-your-door-come-in-and-have-a-cup-of-tea force. These would be heroes of the piece if reports are correct, carry guns, to use them if necessary.

On their own citizens.

That's messed up.

So ATSers, this is where you come in.

Does anybody live near Grand Isle, Louisiana?

Is this is actually happening, or has this just been reported by someone with too much time on their hands.

Seen as ATS covers a wide population, thought i'd try to find if anybody has seen this.

Training Exercise?

I don't really know why they would evacuate, it's not like the oil has formed into some monster like Cloverfield..

Or maybe it has....

I guess we will have to wait and see..

Training, who knows, anything is a possibility. But the humvees marked "disaster relief team" kinda says its something else to me. Of course none of this may be correct.

If it is correct, you have to wander how bad BP and others know this is going to get, and possibly don't want people to be around for it...?

A desperate land grab maybe?

Are there any major development programs trying to get off the ground down there but have opposition? A port trying to be built?

If anyone is near there, get some photos.

This story is from yesterday. Not today. Surely in the last 30 hours we have have heard something more about this than just a simple small note from a mostly unreputable site from some unknown reporter who offers no proof.

This is totally unsubstantiated. There is absolutely no proof of any troops there, especially "battle hardened." And they have had since this article came out around noon yesterday.

Even the multiple comments at the bottom of the Intel Hub site say this is all false and completely not proven. 'This is a hoax in my opinion.

This guy has been saying this for several days it seems, and has offered no proof.

People should really research stories before spreading unsubstantiated stories across ATS.
We strive to deny ignorance. Not promote it. Please research future posts here, or at least look for proof first.

Agreed, this is a complete hoax, I can confirm after just speaking to family currently on their way back to Houma Airport from right on The Grand Isle Coast that there was no sign of any of this there around two hours ago (maybe a few more police then usual) and no mention of it by who they were visiting there either

Another one for the HOAX Forum and also me looking like an idiot again for acting on stuff I've read online and ringing them again to find out it was BS

If you find proof of a HOAX, please send it this way also, so I can DELETE "theIntelHub" from my favorites.

This is what ATS is about. Confirm or Deny

Something sounds odd there.. Spoke to a friend who lives in the area on phone a few hours ago and they made no mention of it. Will try to ring them later as with the timezone difference my friend is probably asleep..

Hi 5 oClock

Sorry my friend I can't offer anything that would count as concrete proof that would be accepted on this board as fact, but I would put my life on the line that the information I have been told is 100% accurate which is....

As of nearly three hours ago (and for a good few hours duration before that) there were NO signs of any FEMA or Battle Hardened troops on or around The Grand Isle Coast, that is from a 1st account witness, and the 2nd account witness (who they visited in the area as they reside there) said they have seen nothing like this in the past few days either, I'm sure if they were they would have been visible to both visitors and the residents which I can confirm they weren't.

No need to strike of that website though if it's had good nuggets of info in the past, I'm not too familiar with the site but it seems member/user generated so could just be the poster at fault, or maybe someone saw a military convoy passing through and got excited and jumped to conclusions, who knows?

CJKX NEWS- 6/7/10 -Grand Isle, Louisiana- Folks in Grand Isle, Louisiana are going to have a big problem this year when hurricane season this year. The Deepwater disaster is making for deep trouble for some Louisiana inhabitants along the coast and on Grand Isle. The fear is that strong hurricane winds could blow much of the oil further inland; covering coastal regions in a potentially toxic mix of oil and chemicals BP has used to try and disperse the oil. FEMA personnel have been spotted by local residents as recently as today.

"I saw --FEMA (Spells it out)on some trucks I think." said one teenager.

Law enforcement sources tell CJKX an evacuation order is imminent for much of coastal Louisiana.

Todd Barberton CJKX San Diego

This cites CJKX news as the source and puts it in San Diego. CJKX is a Canadian radio station located in Ontario that plays country music, not a news station.
CJKX Wiki

I will repeat myself. This is a hoax! And parts of the story are blatant lies. Not from the OP, but from the articles.
