An object that hit Jupiter last year with a force equivalent to a few thousand nuclear bombs, which left it with a scar the size of Pacific Ocean was probably an asteroid, say astronomers.

We're so lucky to have Jupiter, our solar system's vacuum cleaner, working for us.

We may not be here if we didn't.

It was a lighting strike.

The impacts of the comet are nearly identical because the impacting comets also caused a discharge event.

As the Sun begins to wake from its slumber as it orbits into a more electrically active region of the galaxy, we will more than likely see other "impact" events on Jupiter and other planets that had no visible comet or asteroid associated with them.

It is interesting to note that we just had a massive bout of tornadoes rip through the central US.

We can expect more wild weather as the Sun enters an active region of the galaxy. Not just on earth, but on other planets as well.

Tornadoes are an electric phenomena.
