Iran, Turkey, and Brazil signed a declaration in the Iranian capital on May 17, committing Tehran to shipment of 1,200 kilograms (2,640 pounds) of its low-enriched uranium in Turkey in exchange for 120 kilograms of 20-percent enriched nuclear fuel for the Tehran Research Reactor that produces radioisotopes for cancer treatment.

Ok what we have here is a swap of twelve hundred kilograms of uranium, for one hundred twenty kilograms of twenty percent enriched fuel. The source article it is for a research reactor that is suppose to produce isotopes for cancer treatment. My real question hear is what else could the twenty percent enriched fuel be used for? Post any thoughts you might have.

20% enrichment is not suitable for weapons use. They are really quite within their rights to enrich uranium up to 20%, all of the NPT signatory countries have that right. And most countries have research reactors at major universities that supply radio-isotopes for medical use.

This one was built for Iran by the US I believe.

The only thing they can do with that military wise is a dirty bomb. But hell you can do this with one percent enriched uranium...

And a dirty bomb is crappy, Iran have already far more destructive missiles than any dirty bomb they could build with that uranium.

Iran have chemicals and biological weapons... so a dirty bomb is a joke.

And yes Iran is allowed to have 20% enriched uranium. And the only reason the US-Israel want to kill them is because they are not controlled by the Rothschild banks and their government isn't bought and paid for.

A dirty bomb might be a joke to developed nations, but they are plenty destructive on a large scale.
I got that twenty percent is not good for anything else besides medical use, but could it be further enriched? Or is that even possible with the type they are getting?

yep just like everyone else and lets face it we have too many people on the earth and this is a green way to thin the population down but the trouble is we won't know if it's a flase flag attack or not because it only takes a few grams of the right stuff to make the black death seem like a walk in the park.

technoligy is 20 years ahead of where we think it is, maybe more so they might already have nanotech devices to carry the virus and the next major conflict is likly to be fought in hospitals and labs and this comes at a time where hospitals can not even cope with a outbreak of flu.

Sadam had chemical weapons if only he pumped the oil into the sea instead of setting it on fire if we are to beleive whats going on with the Bp leak but apart from that type of use i don't think chemical weapons are very effective.

Far more people have been killed by viriuses than killed in all the wars of the world so it's obvious that a weaonized virus is going to be ten time more effective than Nukes and do remember the zionists want to inherit a green earth and not one that makes them glow green in the dark.

I think it's possible to enrich it further in it's present form, but that is why the deal to trade it for completed fuel rods was being pushed. The fuel rods can't be enriched any further, so can only ever be used as fuel rods.

Iran will still have about half of their current supply of uranium after the deal, so they could still attempt to enrich that further.

They are allowed to do that. They have signed the NPT and stick firmly to it.... unlike some other non-signees *cough, cough*

What the world needs right at this minute is a global catastrophy to occur which FORCES countries to drop their mis trust and differences and get on with Humanity..

The phone call and subsequent agreement here is perfectly legitimate and we, THE WEST should re-evaluate our position to certain countries and look towards extending ourselves with the hope it is reciprocated..........

If we don't try we will never know.........then we can go and bomb the place !!! (NOT the preferred option !)

20% enrichment is needed for medical isotopes the reason why Iran is going for it. These medical isotopes are used for cancer research and other such stuff. You can google it and see for yourself. Also as per the NPT which Iran is signatory too enrichment upto 20-21.% is allowed.

To make a proper nuclear weapon enrichment grade should be 80% or more.
