The article claims that a former U.S. Navy signalman, Joe Meadors, is one of the detained. He is a survivor of the Israeli USS Liberty attack.

Also a former Deputy Director under Reagan seems to be included in the list.

We are told by the W.H. that they are treating this with "caution". I wonder how far Israel can go along International lines before they get called out on an offense of detaining Nationals from International Waters, with 12 American members on board.

This along with the fact that they might have to face TURKISH forces
(a NATO member) while they are NOT NATO members. A diplomatic nightmare.

I truly believe this is not going to end well.

Israel is pushing to many buttons , Government's will have to act.

Please fix your link, OP.

If this is true, God help us.

I'll preface this by saying I think the attack was illegal.

That being said, Israel has stated that they will not release any detainees that refuse to identify themselves. They could simply be missing identity papers.

The worst case scenario being that they were killed, seriously injured or witness to crimes which Israel wants covered up. God help them if that is the case. .

I worry that a former USS Liberty survivor is being detained. I get a bad feeling about that scenario.

This situation just keeps getting worse.

I also read on RSOE EDIS there where Germans on board one of the ships.
It's not showing up on there anymore. Do they archive their postings?

There are also 30 British citizens aboard as well, one of them from the town where I live.

NATO includes most of Western Europe except for a few Scandinavian countries, Switzerland and Ireland. France is a NATO ally but is not a member.

Interestingly enough the southern bloc of NATO includes Turkey and Greece which from time-to-time come into armed conflict over Cyprus. .

Since you made the claim, back it up. Your move.

It has been widely publisised by all coutries including Israel that these ships were in International waters.

Therefore Israel have KIDNAPPED around 700 people...

And they want them to stand trial???????
