Human Society Recues 49 Horses, Mules and Donkeys

Our Animal Rescue team will remain in Wayne County, W.Va., for several weeks to treat the 49 horses, donkeys and mules we rescued from horrible conditions last week. The emaciated animals are suffering from gaping wounds, overgrown hooves and rain rot.

I hate to see stuff like this and the fact that it's happening all over the U.S. is disturbing to say the least. These animals we're being neglected to the point of starvation and it is beyond my understanding how a human being can just let an animal just waste away to the point that they're hardly anything but skin and bones. The only explanation I can think of is that the owner couldn't afford to maintain these animals. So why not gave them away to someone that can? Just makes no sense.

Perhaps the greatest indication of the pending fall of man, is the way we treat the other animals that share this world with us..
