Gun manufacturers will probably be required to label their guns with instructions & warnings so that idiots don't try to sue them for their own
idiocy...Just like other manufacturers have to do... Posted by MidnightDStroyer
The last time I went in a gun store and looked at purchasing a handgun, this is the list of safety advisories and gadgets I saw with each gun...
A lockable plastic storage box (most with a lock)
A trigger/action lock
A couple of models that have either a grip or a magazine shaped lock with a combination lock (in addition to the standard trigger lock)
Most have safety warnings literally engraved in the metal
Some models (Rugers in particular) have safety warning stickers on each clip, which tends to roll up and jam the clip in the gun after any amount of
use
Zillions of printed warnings and safety advisories in the instruction manual, molded into the boxes, and independent cards in the box
Most handguns now come with a small envelope with 2 fired shell casings for some states (CA MA CN that I know of) that require such casings to be
submitted to state police for keeping as a registration "fingerprint" to the gun
For automobiles to have the same relative amount of safety features, each new car you looked at would have the following:
A 6 point aircraft type restraint system for each passenger
A hydraulicly mounted helmet that lowered over your head each time you sat down
A retina recognition system to make sure only authorized drivers could start it up
A built in breathalyzer you had to blow in before it would start
A laser/radar rangefinder in all directions that would disable the engine if you came within 10 feet of another car or obstacle
The engine would be governed at 65 mph.
