You need to watch this series

www.amazon.co.uk...=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1300477454&sr=8-1

Just incredible. The highlight of the episodes I've watched so far is Bruce Parry being initiated into the Bwiti religion in Gabon by taking part in a 3 day Iboga ritual.

He visits various isolated tribes around the world and lives with them for a month. And the recurring theme is how much we all have in common with each other, no matter how colourful and exotic the culture. Initial suspicion gives way to genuine friendship and warmth, and most tribes' members cry when he leaves.

I've seen this common bond and similiarity all humans have to each other when watching foreign films as well. From Iran to Afghanistan to Korea and Japan. Only the outer things - language, clothing, beliefs - differ.

Definitely worth a watch, whether or not you are planning to travel the world.

I would love to visit Petra in Jordon, and while your there you might as well swing over and check out Jerusalem, the city of peace (war).

Visit the summit of the sacred mountain Mount Canigou on the French/Spanish border. If you know what to do, you may find yourself travelling through a portal into the past.
It happened to Salvador Dali, who depicted it in his painting "The Railway Station at Perpignan" here
Patrice Chaplin, the first wife of Michael Chaplin, Charlie Chaplin's son, went through the portal and described her journey into the past in her book "The Portal."

Never heard of this!?!?! Sounds very neat though, I must look into it further. Time travel has always been one of my pet peeves.
