I'm somewhat a neat person, I like things in a certain order. Every-time I'm done with my headphones, shaver, etc , I wrap the cord neatly around it and put it away.

When I come back to use the devices, you would think some idiot tied the sh** in some boyscout knots.

It literally took me 5 min to unravel my headphones the other day.

It even gets worse, I own a recording studio, there are 100's of cords I use that plug in to this and that and I'm not even going to talk about X-mas lights, that's on a whole different level my friends.

That got me to thinking, what the hell is really going on

Well, where is this equipment kept? do you live alone? is it a secure area?

But seriously, there are mischevious spirits out there. I have a couple similar stories.

Not cords being tied though... that's strange.

Some of the knots look strikingly similar to this sh** right here....

Your cords are tangling. What else?

Use a twist tie on the cord when wrapping your headphones.

For you studio cables, try using the cord's "memory" instead of the "wrist over elbow" wrap. Use velcro straps on those cords.

This will eliminate the "ghost hypothesis"

it's in your head.

seriously. you can be neat as you like, doesnt stop wires getting tangled.

if you dont like it use cable ties.

I would fire, on the spot, any of my techs that wrapped a mic cord "wrist over elbow".

Yeah, you gotta do that 'loose' thing, holding the lead in both hands between finger and thumb, gently bringing your hands together and very lightly twisting the chord between your fingers. It creates a great loop of any size you require and doesn't stress the insides at all.

this is very odd, I would set up a vid cam.

its obvious. used to have this problem. still do from time to time

one of the lesser daemons. im sure.

popping in and out of dimensions to quickly get that knot in,

then ... puff

its gone and jumped to the next headphone cable.

it used to happen to me.

do what i do now.

hold your hand like rock horns
then wrap in a figure of 8 round them as though your 2 fingers are in the holes of the eight.
then fold them.

the loops wont cross over each other so much.

its just enough to slow the daemon down before his next hop.
that's how the holders work. they are not worth the effort.

im sure the little critters have pretty high quoter's to meet ... its hell after all.

Ha!

I have said the same thing, there is definitely a law of entropy when it comes to instrument cables and ropes! I told my nephew when packing a long guitar cable, "You see this is in here really neat, but when i open the bag again it will be all knotted up!"

I have another ghost that always throws ankle socks into my laundry. I have never bought them, but you'd be amazed at how many times i find these ghost socks in my wash.

*update*

Guess what, I grabbed my headphones last-night and the cord was ridiculousness tangled up. I assume it stemmed from the thread I made here.

This was after rapping it up neatly.

I was not spooked, I found it amusing. I gave the head-phone to my father, who's visiting and told him to unravel it.

It took him 5 min.

I wish I had taken a picture. Next time

Yep, I hear ya - every year I put the christmas lights up neatly, have even put them back in the box the way I bought them - next year all in knots and tangles.
