Will not take just any parent!

After starting a couple threads, I'm still lost here in ATS. Anyone can type. But, when it comes to using the icons and tools available, I am at a loss on how to utilize them. Like adding a smiley face or a thumbs down.

Also when answering a post, how do you add their quote in my response?

This has probably been answered a zillion times, sorry!

I have viewed the newby instruction threads but cannot find help there. Maybe I am beyond help.

Recently I had started a thread. I had desired to post a quote by one responding. I am sure they thought that I might be rude in my silence but actually I didn't know how to.

Thanks for that link, that's going to help me out plenty. Never got into the more technical way of posting

When you hit reply, the page that comes up is loaded with link/icons.
To quote something, there is a cartoon type text balloon in yellow. Click that and paste in the text you want to quote.
Experiment a little with the icons, the "earth" one is to add a link to your reply/thread, the artist pallet and monitor icons are for inserting images.
You can try them all, there is a cancel option if you change your mind.
You can familiarize yourself a little with HTML, and copy and paste multiple quotes...
You'll see.
