Obama to add homegrown terror to security strategy

www.washingtonpost.com

WASHINGTON -- Responding to terror attacks like the Fort Hood shooting rampage and the failed Times Square bombing, President Barack Obama is adding homegrown terrorists to the administration's top national security priorities.

Obama's top counterterrorism adviser, John Brennan, said Wednesday the administration's newly revised national security strategy document will place homegrown threats among the nation's top national security concerns.

We have talked about it and speculated about it for some time now. Later it will become de facto public policy to consider fellow citizens as security threats.

The article sites examples of genuine terroristic in nature attacks. But with the Patriot Act still in place to gather information without warrant and some partisan language and legislation that has been passed in the past two years, can Americans reasonably expect that they still have the right to be left alone and entitled to have their own opinions from a growing federal government full of suspicion?

Big Brother has been watching us for yyyeeeeaaaarrrrsss.
The general public is just too naive to believe it.

I believe that they let things happen to remind us of how much we need to depend on this system that is corrupt in many ways and to deviate from the fact that they are watching us.

isnt it funny when there are a few isolated incidents of crazed U.S citizens commiting acts of violence and we all go to the top of the Homeland Security terrorist concern list. when there are hundreds of acts of violence perpetuated by illegal immigrants (99% by cartel and gang members) and we are told to give them more rights. take away American rights and give them to a populace that is hurting the citizens. sounds like American government

Both are good points. The gov't is well known for using knee-jerk reactions instead of actually facing and solving problems.

But for me, it would seem this is more of a reaction message to the disgruntled to tell them that the US government will not stand for dissension among the ranks. A more of, "If you don't like what we are doing, tough luck." Only now they have more than words to back it up.

It reminds me of what Bill Clinton said about the ATF: People have no right to complain about law enforcement. For me, it is like the current government is distilled from the worst elements of previous charlatans and crooks to what we have now. A self-serving group of bums that could not do the right thing if it was the only choice.

Protecting from harmful elements of society is fine and admirable, it is their definitions that have me concerned.

To answer your question, of course they have a right to expect to be left alone. Eveyone born on this planet should have that right.

It doesn't make it right. In these peoples' eyes Americans are now the greatest threat. They are now the greatest "potential" threat.

It's insane that Americans are now first on the list of the terrorists. It should be reversed. Americans are being terrorized by their big coporation contolled government. Americans need to reverse. I know it's not time for a verse, about America in reverse, but the reality of it is it all hurts. The controllers/perpetrators, the people and the earth. Americans are not the terrorists. The few who are should not be put on the list first if it means including every single person in the nation, nation. That's all I'm sayin'.
