BP's own Oil Spill Situation Status PDF

I'm not sure how long this link will be up, but it's a direct link to the BP site (which, as far as I can determine is the correct source). It shows staging areas and currents, which suggest potential drift as well as the extent on previous dates :

Another disaster for poor Louisiana.

You need the most recent copy of Adobe, I think. I found this elsewhere and some folks report not being able to see it -- the issue seemed to be Adobe.

OR...they could have finally noticed that folks were getting in there and they locked down or moved the file.

Well that does confirm it's in the gulf stream. It look to be following it too.

It gives a good idea of the potential scope of the disaster and the scale of the cleanup. We're capable of dealing with smaller scale disasters -- large-scale cleanups probably present some very unique problems.

Look at the latest status map: www.bp.com... on_Status_Map.pdf . Notice the progression of the oil plume in the gulf loop insert.

With there being no real hope for stopping this any time soon, I'm seriously worried about it getting into the gulf stream.

The map is dated 5/22/10 .......The science behind what created the map is even older.............

I am sure there is new data they have not put up yet.............

I think that map is a "best case scenario" now............

We can mulitiply this map by at least 8 t0 10 I'd say....
