Hello all,
Moderators, I was unsure where to post this. Please feel free to move it to a different area if need be. I have been doing alot of research on the Venus transit over the last few weeks. One of the websites I was on, made reference to the Police song King of Pain. So I looked up the lyrics, to see what it said. Then last night, I was watching the live webcast of the transit. At the close of the show, they played King of Pain as well. So I decided to post the lyrics for you all. I am no fan of Mr. Bush, no doubt. What I found interesting though, is a paragraph in the song that is uncanny in it's description. I'm not saying it was written about Bush personally, but it is pretty interesting none the less.

King of Pain
By: The Police

There's a little black spot on the sun today
It's the same old thing as yesterday
There's a black hat caught in a high tree top
There's a flag-pole rag and the wind won't stop

I have stood here before inside the pouring rain
With the world turning circles running 'round my brain
I guess I'm always hoping that you'll end this reign
But it's my destiny to be the king of pain

There's a little black spot on the sun today
That's my soul up there
It's the same old thing as yesterday
That's my soul up there
There's a black hat caught in a high tree top
That's my soul up there
There's a flag-pole rag and the wind won't stop
That's my soul up there

I have stood here before inside the pouring rain
With the world turning circles running 'round my brain
I guess I'm always hoping that you'll end this reign
But it's my destiny to be the king of pain

There's a fossil that's trapped in a high cliff wall
That's my soul up there
There's a dead salmon frozen in a waterfall
That's my soul up there
There's a blue whale beached by a springtide's ebb
That's my soul up there
There's a butterfly trapped in a spider's web
That's my soul up there

I have stood here before inside the pouring rain
With the world turning circles running 'round my brain
I guess I'm always hoping that you'll end this reign
But it's my destiny to be the king of pain

There's a king on a throne with his eyes torn out
There's a blind man looking for a shadow of doubt
There's a rich man sleeping on a golden bed
There's a skeleton choking on a crust of bread
King of pain

There's a red fox torn by a huntsman's pack
That's my soul up there
There's a black-winged gull with a broken back
That's my soul up there
There's a little black spot on the sun today
It's the same old thing as yesterday

I have stood here before in the pouring rain
With the world turning circles running 'round my brain
I guess I always thought you could end this reign
But it's my destiny to be the king of pain
King of pain
King of pain
King of pain
I'll always be king of pain

There's a king on a throne with his eyes torn out
Bush (the king) sees nothing wrong in the world around him, or in his actions. I.E. He can't see what the rest of us see. He also has said it would be alot easier to run the country if it were a dictatorship. (Or something along those lines) He wasn't elected by the populous, but appointed by the Supreem Court. He runs the country as if he were a king, in that he doesn't feel he has to answer to anyone. I.E. He has the arrogance, as if he were a king.

There's a blind man looking for a shadow of doubt
Bush believes he is doing God's will. He is stead fast in his convictions he is doing the right thing, or God's will. I.E. He has no doubt he is God's chosen one.

There's a rich man sleeping on a golden bed
Do I need to say anything here?

There's a skeleton choking on a crust of bread
Bush is a member of the Skull and Bones secret society, I.E. skeleton.
Who can forget the pretzel incident, I.E. crust of bread.
King of pain?

Take Care,
Tom Sawyer

that's a good police song, I've always liked it, not my favorite but i like it non the less.

you make interesting correlations regarding Bush and while I don't believe the song was written for him/about him, it certainly fits him as of now...
the only problem with this type of theory is that it could probably be used to describe several individuals not just bush.

Hi worldwatcher,

Thank you for your response. I agree with you completely, that the lyrics could probably be applied to several people. The kicker for me was the line "there's a skeleton choking on a crust of bread". I thought that was pretty interesting/specific. Like I said, I don't think it was written about him personally. I do however think that this line is uncanny. What are the chances?

Take Care,
Tom
