Musharraf mulls a comeback

Pervez Musharraf, the Pakistani president who resigned from office 18 months ago, is considering a political comeback and plans to meet Pakistani politicians and supporters in Abu Dhabi and Dubai this month to chart his political future, according to a close aide.

“I am keeping my options open,” Mr Musharraf was quoted as saying in a speech in Sarasota, Florida. He stressed that Pakistan had gone “downhill” since his departure.

Great, the dictator plans to take power again. I don't disagree with his statement that Pakistan has gone downhill, but is one authoratarian government any better than another?

Ah let him try, he'll just get a taste of the same medicine that befell Mrs. Benezir Bhuto that his goons had dished out.

He was on Wolf Blitzer (or Anderson Cooper, I don't recall), and said that he did everything he could to help Bhutto. He said she refused the security he offered. Nice, blaming the victim.

Bhuto was setup by Musharaf and her own husband. Her husband was obsessed with power. He knew his party would not have been able to achieve victory had it not been for Bhuto and he would not have been able to claim the throne without Bhuto out of the way.

I don't know about her husband, but I am sure Musharraff was involved. Didn't Bhutto's son get the leadership of her party?

He was appointed yes,
but the father is assuming the throne until
the son finishes up his studies.

I don't think dad is ready to give up power yet, IMO.

The husband was very jealous of Bhuto,
He only married Bhuto so he can be part of the Political pedigree
Bhuto had as her Dad was also the Prime Minister.
