Internet Relay Chat. You log in to chat servers using chat CTCP clients (Client-To-Client Protocol) such as mIRC.

But they aren't that safe. Full of security holes!

Good idea. Or even back to 200 which it appears to have been the case previously.

That's a very nice thing for you to say

Well, thank you S.O and Ashely D (and any others I may have missed).

Let's all be happy we have Staff that gives a care about what is going on and jumps on it quickly and not let it linger for days/weeks etc.

I think that is the one trait I am beginning to admire the most about ATS; The Staff attention to the members and issues (no matter how fast they pop up).

Please don't change it to 100 from 50. I've been a member over a year and been around longer , but just made it to 50 posts the other day and was really stoked to use chat.

I'll miss it.

I don't understand what happened. Must have been something serious. This breaks my heart because we were using the live-chat for discussion of the BP camera and whatnot. It had become one of my favorite parts of ATS and this is very very very sad. Very sad only.

The chat post limit was raised from 50 to 200 thus alienating those of us who were using it. This breaks my heart. Now I have to go through the forums and make another 100 contributing posts in order to access it. I'll be gone for a day or two. Maybe 3 or more.

This angers me but there's nothing I can do. Now I find out a few of my friends were banned. I don't know what happened. All I know is that one of my favorite ATS features is now unavailable to me because somebody did something naughty.

I'm very very sad, right now.

Some members forget that ATS Terms and Conditions of Use that everyone agreed to abide by when registering, still apply in chat.

So from here on out - if you cant say it on the boards - you cant say it in chat. T&C is enforced.

I understand TT, it does seem unfair to those who did nothing to precipitate the minimum post requirement.

To be fair however the requirement for chat access has been 200 posts for a long time, from what I remember from a similar incident a while back. ATS staff took a chance by removing it with the advent of the new chat feature ... it seems some folks abused it as a result thus making them return to their original minimum post threshold.

I'm not sure what to tell you, other that 100 posts will go by in no time and you'll be back in chat before you know it.

Which is how I thought it always was? Those have always been the rules as far as I know. It said so right at the top of the chat room.

"Happy Chatting" ... Right. For those who can still access it.

Raising the post-count limitation wasn't needed. Some of us are being punished for the actions of a few and this is wrong. I just wish the administration could feel my frustration right now.

It is very very easy to rack up post count ATS offers soo many topics that anyone can find something of interest. If not ATS, BTS has even more off banter topics. Just join in and find topics that interest you!

At first I was somewhat perturbed but Iv'e realized that by the time a member has submitted 200 posts they will (in theory) be fully aware of the ATS T&C's and are far less likely to be making and kind of faux pas...so it makes sense really.

Also, for quick and easy post counts just say hello at every introduction thread. Its an easy way to increase your post count and it creates a nice atmosphere for the new members.

hey, I agree with you. Chat was becoming one of my favorite things here too.. it wasn't always doom and gloom. It will probably be a little while before I have 200 posts. I sometimes hesitate to post because I don't want to deal with the trolls and whatnot.
I'll miss chattin' with y'all for a while.

So, were the offending members banned from ats all together?
