The prevalent theory is that it is a hunk of impact ejecta. Until someone (or something) gets up close and personal with it, there is no way of knowing whether or not this is the case. It's a very reasonable theory, a lot more reasonable than:

a crude construction device by some creatures who practiced on Phobos and then landed in Egypt and built the pyramids
.

That's the point. Aldrin believes that Phobos would make a very good base of operations for observing Mars. If you're going to put something on Phobos, why not put it next to the monolith so you can learn more about it?

Buzz "revealed" nothing.

I'd never heard of this before, so I would say Buzz did reveal something.
In fact, I doubt many people have ever heard of this before. In that case it's very revealing.

Also DJLateralus good photo, I'm confused by it. Looks like it is a quite a way in the distance. If so, it looks pretty big.

Anyone who thinks the man just wants to spread interest in space exploration is nuts. If that were the case, why mention Phobos in particular each time you're on TV? Think people, please!

Also, on an unrelated note. Sergeant Karl Wolf (AF), discloses this information about an alien moon base.

He claims he's willing to "testify before congress under oath" that he was shown photographs of this alien moon base.

He's not an astronaut and provides no REAL tangible evidence to support his claim however, he does admit to having seen these bases on the Moon.

Hopefully by late September there will be a final answer...

He can only testify that he saw photos that were presented as being of alien bases on the Moon, the testimony of the guy who showed him the photos could be much more interesting.
