Is the sun interacting with something?

This is more a request from valued ATS members. Forgive my laziness, but have read threads on this site with 'something' interacting with our Sun. It started with these mysterious displays of filaments on the sun, comets crashing into the sun, doctored SOHO images, continued low activity of sunspots, and other weird effects.
Any further info and links would be appreciated.
