I believe this pipe is 5 ft in diameter.

I can't seem to verify the pipe size, but there is plenty to suggest it is at least that size,

Imagine a pipe five feet wide spewing crude oil like a fire hose at a rate of over 200,000 gallons per day from what could be the planet's largest high-pressure oil and gas reserve. Now consider that it only takes one quart of motor oil to make 250,000 gallons of ocean water toxic to wildlife. Are you starting to get the magnitude of this?

www.examiner.com...

A bit of quick elementary math V= pi*radius(squared) times one foot of pipe equals

...195 cubic ft per..whats the rate? ft per second?

That would give 16,000,000 cubic ft pr day. Am I right?

Thanks for posting. I am amazed it took so long for them to release video they've had since day one.

Odd that no one can provide pipe diameter specs. Also, why couldn't some sort of flow rate meter be inserted to gauge flow rate? Lastly, if this is in reality the main leak, I am somewhat relieved that it would seem to dispel some of the "big gaping hole" claims. (Although nothing to ascertain scale or pipe size though.)

Can anyone familiar with this technology comment on visible pressure? I somehow imagined 5,000 psi to be spewing more like a fire hose.

Please don't flame me. I'm just curious. Thanks.

Truth is, we have people on ATS claiming oil spill is global disaster, and some claiming it's being hyped.

I don't know, the information is very limited.

This could mean one of two things.

If it's being hyped to drive up prices of oil or sell the Global Warming agenda

If it's being downplayed and is truly a catastrophe, complete pollution must happen before public is awake. By then, it's too late to do anything about it.

somehow I doubt very seriously if that leak is the biggest one

that looks to be one of the smaller of the 3 admitted leaks

Yeah, that's bad. I heard on the radio the pipe was five feet across. This is damaging the deep sea and now reaching the shores...

That makes sense, and why they only released very little of all the footage. The output could be easily measured--the equipment is in place--except BP will not allow it. Accuracy is not on their side.
