This is my first post and I would like to thank you all for your patience if I have gotten off topic. I have enjoyed reading many posts here and hope
to continue posting along with the many intelligent people here.
I have no ambition to govern men; it is a painful and thankless office.

I hope our wisdom will grow with our power, and teach us, that the less we use our power the greater it will be.

I would like to respectfully disagree with your comment. The people are not too dumb to vote for a good leader. Seriously I think it doesn't matter
if we vote or not. It is money that decides who runs our country. The people who can buy their way into government. We are given bad choices to chose
from. The votes are in before we ever pull that bar.
It was said that all men are created equal. But when this was said it was also stated that those who could vote had to meet certain criteria. The had
to be tax payers, they had to be property owners, etc. Sorry I couldn't find the direct quote. There needs to be guidelines on who can vote. I am
sorry. It's like this....If you pout two people side by side and one says " I can fix this but it will take sacrifice and time". And you put
someone else on the other side who says; " I will do this for you and you do nothing. (or here's free beer, lol)" Who do you think the general
masses will vote for?
We have raised a generation of people who want it all but want to do nothing for it. We allowed our government to take more and more of our rights
away from us due mostly to our own ambivalence and lack of true interest; not stupidity.
A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth
of labor the bread it has earned - this is the sum of good government.
