A strange quote...

For this is what America is all about. It is the uncrossed desert and the unclimbed ridge. It is the star that is not reached and the harvest sleeping in the unplowed ground. Is our world gone? We say "Farewell." Is a new world coming? We welcome it-and we will bend it to the hopes of man.

-Lyndon B. Johnson

This was at his inaugural address in 1965. It's also on all of the new US Passports (pages 20 & 21). The reason I think it's strange is this:

Is a new world coming? We welcome it-and we will bend it to the hopes of man.

So, the old world is gone... and a new world is coming...

Why would it have to be bent to the hopes of man? This implies that there's some force pushing us in a direction beyond our control, some outside influence.

I just thought it a bit strange.

thoughts?

Is it really on all new passports?

If so, very odd, but not that hard to see TPTB doing it.

Welcome to our New World Order

I see it differently.

I see it as meaning that he (and those in power) will make sure it suits mankind, they will listen to what 'the people' want and act accordingly.

They will 'bend it' (make it fit) into what the public want.

There are many other quotes much more sinister than this one.

Really?

Why would anyone with power make it better for the general public, why would you ever Think that "they" would 'bend it' into what the public wants? I honestly hope you are not that naive and your whole post was sarcastic, if not then that would have to be some of the most brainwashed comments I have ever heard. "The government wants to make MY life better, they want ME to help shape the way this country is..."

WOW

So you are trying to tell me that "they" are going to listen to the public just like they did with the bailout, the way the listened to the public about "heathcare reform", and the way they are listening to people about the cap and trade issue... Oh and don't forget "they" are now going after the internet.

Oh yes, I really am that naive

I think the world is all sweetness and light and all of these conspiracies are just codswallop.

All of our world leaders are wonderful, innocent people who want to make OUR lives better.

In fact, if you cut open Mr Obama or Mr Cameron they will bleed strawberry milk and if you think that's poo-poo coming out of their backsides you are very much mistaken - it is actually the yummiest of Swiss chocolate.

This is also what I believe. If the new world order occurs, it will be because people would accept it. A kind of illusion to people.

Well, politicians are liars aren't they? Why would they talk about all the horrible things they do?

"As you all know our family is related to ancient royal bloodlines, I ran the drug business as the head of CIA, we start wars for profits, and as most of you already know 9/11 was an inside job.. by the way, we might be satanic reptilians.. any questions?"

- Bush Senior

Like LiveForever8 said, there are quotes out there that are far more sinister, but mostly I feel they try to keep it to indirect innuendo, or they talk about it in a vague way.. at least they used to.

For every quote about the new world order out there there's dozens of skeptics that'll keep saying they're just talking about a new paradigm in global politics. They'll cling to every little chance of it being something else before even considering that they are indeed talking about world government.. even though they're all saying it out loud these days.
People don't want to be stuck with the implications and the psychological burden of all that, it's easier just sayin'.. "well, the cold war had just ended he was talking about...."
They're basically f*cking with us.. "we know you guys know and we make it clear.. but you can't do a damn thing about it and no one is listening!"
As usual, hidden in plain sight.

As for the bending thing.. we've been bending the world to our will, it started with agriculture.

What would make that new. Don't the people in power bend everything to make things the way they want it anyway?
