Somewhere along the line, I've heard of ATS boards even older than these...But I haven't gotten any other links (yet).

Is there a reason why the ezboard is the only accessible.

Probably when ATS was moved to a new server etc, the old baord was left behind, makes sence, why drag it along like a rotting corpse?

Because there was some good stuff in it, really good memories, good information we have forgotten, and a history of the site.
