Never mind it doesn't even matter to ATS that much.

Apples and oranges my friend. What you describe is focusing the lasers on a single point.

What he describes is taking a large number of very powerful beams and creating a vortex in a confounded space. Since gravity can bend space and that bent space can direct light through its curvature. He is hoping that he can use the lasers to bend space.

While a single laser may not create enough warp to space to be measurable he is hoping a bunch of lasers or a laser induced tornado might be able to bend space in such a way to create a warp in which time would be bent as well and be measurable. One would only need to be able to send simple Morse code through such a device through time to rule the world. The first country that accomplishes time travel, even just for simple communication in one direction will eventually rule the planet.

What you are talking about is similar to this

National Ignition Facility

Which is oddly enough about to become a reality. It is possible of course that this experiment could also bend space-time and create some sort of time warp.

Oh and if this thing can create artificial gravity then it has massive implications for space propulsion. We could see routine interstellar travel within 50 years.

Never mind. But I still stand by what I said before.
