(video) English Speaking Women in Burqa Speak Out For Their Freedoms

I hear the misguided argument all the time on here that women who wear the burqa / niqab are "oppressed" and have no choice in wearing it. That's an outright lie. Most of the women who wear it chose to on their own volition, even when their friends and family try to convince them not to.

Check out this video which interviews a few British women who wear the niqab on a bunch of issues.





Saying you "support freedom" by denying somebody the choice of clothes they should wear is completely absurd. Saying someone can't dress free is DENYING freedom, not promoting it.

I fully support a bank or other private institution that requires that a face must be shown to do business, but that is up to the private institution. Banning it in public areas is absurd and an affront to freedom of expression.

Yeah this information isnt new at all to me. People that dont know about that are ignorant and choose to listen to hearsay from other ignorant people that dont know nothing about that religion or its people. If only people took their time to actually learn on their own instead feeding into the BS from the media and government lies and actually knew people from different area of the world then there wouldnt be no misunderstanding on no ones part.

And I Would like to add muslims or from the middle east are very very respectful, the normal decent human beings with family of course, there's some that are not but we have those type of assholes in every religion and nations so to say they disrespect their women and such is totally false, same way we can say not all americans are women abusers and killers.

It's called FREEDOM, buddy. People have the right to dress how they want. Just because it doesn't fit into your westernized fascist view of how women should look, doesn't mean that they should change, just so that you feel better.


Saying they can't wear something is the OPPOSITE of freedom. Do you not understand?

I'll back this up.

I don't agree with how many Muslims view women.

However, these women have a right to choose what they wish to wear, and certainly a right to choose to do so within the confines of their own culture and religion. Even if I personally don't agree with it. I feel that within the culture when a woman makes a decision to wear hijab, or to go even further and veil they are often subject to even tighter restrictions. Also the social pressure to do so makes my skin crawl.

However, I feel the sentiment 'that a woman shouldn't be judged by her physical appearance' as the idea behind hijab, and such modest dress is a good one.

Those women are "forced to wear it by their husbands"?? APPARENTLY YOU DIDN'T WATCH THEY VIDEO!

They aren't even married, and their families tried to convince them NOT to wear it. I know some other niqabi girls like that as well.

The pressure (even from many muslims) is for them NOT to wear it, and they still chose to, from their own choice. You are the only one trying to limit their freedoms, saying they can't wear it.

Except if one wears a cross, carries a bible, or, if in Saudi Arabia, has an American flag.

See the problem with ISLAM is that its not just a relgion its a life style and it consomes evey individual and every decision one makes through out there lives. So if a woman wants to were a burqa she is just following the rules so to speek but if that same woman decides not to wear one she is then defying the word of god and can be forced buy beatings or the barrel of gun to wear one and in some cases death...I ask you this...Is that Freedom?

I must say that can't be healthy in hot and humid weather. These women say that they arn't opressed yet they allow a parent to choose their husbands? That is disturbing to me and sad.

Propaganda is still propaganda even if you dress it in a burqa and say I prefer it this way.

So its not propaganda if people are lying and you agree with it.

But when people are speaking from the heart, telling the truth, it becomes "propaganda", because you don't agree with it.

I see how it works.

Poor brainwashed whatnots. How can they complain that they don't want to be stereotyped by dressing in a certain way when they are (er) stereotyping themselves by dressing in a certain way? They use the arguements of those who have not the maturity to question what they are told.

I think the full covering is an affront. It is culturally out of place in a the UK and does prevent integration and acceptance, which of course is the end goal and the result. These full face coverings should be banned in schools, public jobs and anywhere else where the facial expression must be read. If these people want to cover themselves up at home then so-be-it.

It's all rather sad.
