I just wanted to give people a heads up regarding morel mushrooms.
Its a bit early in the season and we are having an early spring here.
So.....I just got my first batch of morels this season.
I got a bunch of blacks and a few whites.
They are starting early here and just might be coming up early in your area as well so keep your eyes peeled.
If I get bored later I might add a pic or 2.
Man would I love to have a plate full of fried morals, they are sooo tasty. Sadly I moved south years ago and they dont grow here :-( Happy hunting,I
always enjoyed being in the woods in the spring, hunting morals and later on ginsing. I sure do miss those times.
They should definately be in your area as well.
They are found all over the world from what I understand.
Heres a few links with more information and to help you in your search.

Many seasoned hunters have their favorite areas. Dead or dying elms, old apple orchards, old ash, poplar trees and yes even pines. It truly can be a
hit and miss adventure at times. Not every elm you cross will have morels around it so don't get discouraged. Depending on your region, you may have
to look harder than others.
It might be too late in the season but theres no harm in looking.
A day out is not a bad thing.
I think you might have tried one in that soup we made out in the bush.
I threw a few dehydrated ones in there.
thanks for the information regarding morels. I do remember you throwing one or two into the bush soup that night we went bushing. Does the climate
effect the time of season i p should look? Am in Calgary where the temps are much colder that Ontario.

Most mushroooms need a temp of 79-82 degrees F but with morels it is believed it is 50-75 degrees due to them coming out in early spring.
I know how its been there recently so maybe you might find some.
I moved south about 5 years ago and I miss my springtime ritual walks in the woods. It was always a nice way to get the winter cobwebs out of my
head.
A friend and I used to go "hunting" together and one day we laughed so hard when we came upon a nice patch of whites. They were HUGE and we both
filled our nets to the brim. That was so much fun!!
I searched the surrounding forest, and even went through some overgrown backyards and wood lots.
Not a morel to be found.
We may be past the season here, but I'll make some calls to some of the local botanists in my area at the university and horticultural societies and
see if I'm just not looking in the right place.
Mmmm...morels...I remember my grandpa taking me into the bush to look for them when I was a little kid. He lived in a one room house with a hand pump
in the yard and an outhouse. I sure did hate visiting in the winter
Good memories...
LOVE Morels, the deer, turkey here seem to beat me to most of them, got the fence ready and just bought a morel habitat kit, anyone else here ever buy
one? any tips?
