How did you get Russia out of this?

Surely the Russians aren't behind this, how could they be? If the Russians were attacking the poles with some sort of earthquake machine I would expect the magnitude to be much higher. Its more likely God just condemning the Polish further.....

Or, if not russia, nor god, just as likely, a herd of purple unicorns stampeding across the polish prairie.

Man, I wish that there could be a mechanism to keep track of member's predictions in a spreadsheet or something. Now that would be enlightening.

Best,
SN

Huh? For what? Not declaring a holy war against everybody who has ever told or laughed at a Polish joke? Seriously, use the preview button once in awhile.

4.1 is nothing..... A few years ago we had a 4.3 in the UK and it was only gentle shaking. It might knock a few chimney tops off older houses, but nothing severe.

Try not to hype up these very ordinary earthquakes that can happen anywhere on minor fault lines.

These types of quakes in the Northern European countries are known as post-glacial quakes. Apart from localised area's of Tectonic movement such as the Great-Glen Fault and in Belgium, shallower quakes also occur outside these areas due to the last Glacial retreat.

If you imagine the weight of 1 mile-depth Ice-sheets would have covering the entire landmass, this sudden thawing has left "faults" in the shallow crust where the ground has yet to rebound back to its origional height prior to being crushed downwards by the weight. Its the sudden uplifting which is the cause of all the Earthquakes across Europe, especially so in the UK where we recently had 2 quakes attributed to post-glacial retreat in Dudley and Lincolnshire.
