I used to believe merely looking at it meant it--whether or not you visibly can see it--was being observed. But like you say it actually has to be measured in order to collapse the wave function? To be measured is to be observed. And this "observation" can be performed by a machine, meaning a person is not required for this to occur.

stopped watching the video when i read "according to the religion of quantum mechanics" lol GTFO the guy sounds like a total spud. maybe he would at least sound like a believable debunker if he had a less tenuos grasp of elocution.i was gonna put my dog in this fight but i see there is no point.
