Back in October, five United Nations employees were killed during a Taliban raid on their compound in Kabul. Now, Germany’s Stern has obtained video of the incident that seems to suggest that Afghan police deliberately shot and killed Louis Maxwell, an American citizen who was working as a UN security guard — and who saved the lives of several of his colleagues during the shootout.

But not everyone is persuaded by the UN’s account. Stern has obtained video, embedded here, that appears to show Maxwell being shot. According to Stern’s interpretation of the video, Maxwell, who had been wounded in the firefight defending his charges, can be seen pulling himself up by the hood of a Humvee, and standing among a group of Afghan police. He is then felled by a single shot (or a series of shots: the grainy, shaky video image is hard to interpret). An Afghan police officer is seen carrying Maxwell’s weapon — a Heckler and Koch G36, a relatively unusual weapon for Afghanistan — and walking off with it.

This video was done by Germans (I think). Needs a translator but the thread title says it all-i think. Also, I didn't know how to do the video linkage. Here is the link if gave but again, it was all in a starnge language to me. if someone can get it up on there reply post.

www.stern.de...

If this is true, regarless if they considered him UN and/or US-it appears a terrible crime has been committed. Look at the video. No one even seems to notice-don't care. My stomach turned. I don't feel the need to be there anymore-savages.

GET US OUT OF THERE NOW> They don't want our help and can't be considered a true ally.

Sorry about all the edits. I don't know the lang. I think it is German. Giving me a heck of a time with this post.

Sorry, couldn't make much out in the video at all.

But if true then there should be a concerted effort to find the guilty party.

You can guarantee that if it had been the UN guard apparently shooting the Afghan copper then the PC Brigade and the Muslim apologists would be all over this.

Quite noticeable by their abscence aren't they!

I know. I was thinking I saw a tumbleweed go across my screen.

I get it now though. If it is the US or NATO doing something-come down hard on them.

As far as the video, yes, I know what you are saying but the guy gets hit from the far right upper corner. Then the shooter ( I believe) comes over towards him.

That is where the Afgan cop takes his nice weapon(s) and walks away.

I bet I see tumbleweeds now.... errrr.

Thanks for your posting. I think we need someone to translate the persono heard on the video to get the best description as to what happened.

And notice how the story is from a UN employees stand point instead of a US Citizen being murdered stand point-maybe since a German TV company got the tape? I am sure UN things it is best not to say US person-for the image etc.

Translation:
The attack lies back several months already but still it keeps UN-investigators and the FBI busy. October 2009, the afghan presidential voting campaign is in its hot phase. Taliban fighters attack the UN-guesthouse in Kabul. Nine people have died. A stern.de exclusive video of the attack shows now, that at least one of the casualties was not a victim of the terrorists but of the afghan police.
End of translation

This is basically what is being said in the video as well. Some details from the video:
This happened on 28. October 2009
At least one casuality, Lewis Maxwell (not sure of spelling at this time) was not killed by Taliban but by afghan Security forces.
Officials claimed, that Maxwell was killed by terrorists.
The scenes from the video don't support this version however...
The incident happens at a time when no more shots were being fired.
Maxwell creeps out of the Guesthouse, surrounded by afghan security forces of different units, when suddenly two shots are fired (I think I hear three shots; one single, two in a burst ...)
Nobody of the surrounding people helps Maxwell.
Investigation of the UN with help of the FBI are not yet finished.
A new report talks about 4 UN employees being killed by afghan security.
Pres. Karzai actually profits politically from this murder, but he seems to come under pressure.

Thats the gist of it. I hope, this helps.

LOL yes, that helps A LOT. Very disturbing though.

I think they murdered him-for whatever reason. Expanding on that, they knew who he was and waited for him to come out. The one guy trys to block the street view and BAM.

Who shot the video? A little to odd to be v.t.ing the exact area this occurs.

In this following up article, they go into details how Karzai could get a political gain from this attack.
I can see a motive here, but I will read trough the article and sum it up.

So here it is:
Christoph Reuter is the reporter who is at the location. He seems to have gathered and processed a lot of information on this attack. Calls and short messages from friends and colleagues all over the place have helped him to puzzle together a big part of the mosaic.

Details:
The article is dated 28. October 2009, 15:48h CET (14:48h GMT)
Shortly before 06:00h (local time Kabul, I guess) the first shots could be heard.
Columns of smoke, choppers in low level flight, gunfire for hours.
Approx. 08:30h a detonation, 10 minutes later another one could be heard from the reporters house.

Calls and text messages from other people help him to get a picture of the situation.
At least 7 attackers raid the Bekhtar Guesthouse, a UN-rented guesthouse, kill 6 foreign workers and set the house on fire.
Then, suicide bombers attack the "Kabul City Center", a popular shopping mall.
Shortly before 09:00h 2 rockets nearly miss the Serena-Hotel, Kabuls only 5-star hotel. Immediate evacuation of all guests to the cellar bunker just in time to avoid another rocket that hits the lobby but hurts nobody.
Shootings and rocket attacks in Wazir Akbar Khan, the Embassy-Neighborhood of Kabul.
A German guy who lives in the vicinity of Guesthouse was witness of the attack. The attackers had at least one G36c assult rifle at their disposal. A neighbor of the Guesthouse was shot and killed when the attackers entered the guesthouse from the rear. Timeline: first shots at 05:30h, Police arrives shortly before 06:00h and immediately, a heavy firefight erupts.

A lengthy discourse follows on how taliban fighters could have gotten their hands on one or more G36c assault rifles. Seemingly, a whole container of German weapons on the way to Bundeswehr forces in Peshawar, Pakistan, had been abducted weeks earlier. (Nato forces in Peshawar? And they let the talibs steal their weapon supplies? Hmm...)

A survivor of the attacks was an American banking adviser working for a German enterprise. He was saved from the Guesthouse, brought to the Serena Hotel where he had to enter the bomb-shelter immediately. Around noon he was flown to Mazar-i Sharif.

Die Stadt wirkt wie gelähmt

After this title, the silence in the city is described, the chaos that ensued etc. conflicting reports of dead and wounded, etcetcetc.

A taliban spokesperson took responsibility for the attacks and says that all people have been warned to take part in the elections.

According to the article, the attack seems strange as there are easier targets if the purpose was to hurt foreigners.

The time of the attack is also questioned, as the UN had no trouble with the talibs during the first set of elections in August. However: the UN have uncovered a massive amount of fraud in the first election; so much that Karzais amount of votes sank below 50% and he was pressured into a second election by the UN and the US in particular.
The UN was supposed to monitor the elections in November to prohibit Karzai from faking another election, but in view of the violence,
UN personnel has to be placed in Bunkers and the UN considers to pull out the majority of its personnel. Thus, the elections would become vulnerable to massive fraud again.

Karzai has condemned the attacks, however, he profits massively from them.

End of article.

Well, if that doesn't look like a plain old conspiracy, I dunno what does. We have it all, politics, power, violence... any movie with this content would be considered cheesy

They never specifically tell who made the video, but its not like mobile phones w/ camera are a rarity there. Could have been anybody. We simply don't know.

This has sparked my interest so I'll try to find more about this case this evening. Evidence seems to be pointing to a classical false flag operation.

Hm I found these two articles from the same reporter, Christoph Reuter who is or was in Kabul at that time. The articles are not directly about the murder but are an explanation of the situation and the election fraud that was taking place.

Article 1, dated 21. August 2009, 17:31h CET
This article describes the suspected massive election fraud of the first election run in August 2009.

Some details:

In the district Mohammed Agha, 3463 men and 12 094 women cast theis votes. This is a highly conservative district however, where women usually stay at home; especially after the taliban threatened people not to register. In light of these facts, the numbers are not only improbable but highly laughable.

Die Wählerinnen bleiben aus

The female voters don't show up. A lenghty story about how unusual it is to see even 1 woman at the voting stations. Further evidence that the above numbers are faked.

Die Taliban-Drohungen wirken

The taliban threads work. This part tells how even in large voting stations in the city only few people turn up and how on 100 men come 7 women to vote. Apparently, the taliban distributed leaflets saying "Don't vote. We are among you. We will punish you". People are afraid.

Gerüchte lassen Schlimmes ahnen

Rumors forebode a bad situation. Only around 1000 of 15 656 registered voters turned up in the three biggest districts, where over 100 000 people would be qualified to vote. And even in such low numbers, there is a discrepancy of votes cast by women and women that were actually there.
Rumors say that a surprisingly HIGH voting participation took place (earlier in the article it is stated, that a feared 2 million faked votes could turn up from the south of the country).

Article 2, dated 8. April 2010, 14:00h CET
This Article goes into how Karzai can't be trusted and is suspected of moneygrabbing, powermongering, family business in politics and election fraud.

Some details:

While dozens of western soldiers die, troops have to be reinforced by tens of thousands and hundreds of millions of Euro and US $ are spent on Afghanistan and the combined effort, Karzai has the following to say on TV and in company of parliamentarians: The foreigners are intruders that meddle in afghan affairs and faked the elections of August (see above). If things continue like that, he (Karzai) will personally change sides and side with the taliban. It is not known as of yet about the reaction of the taliban (tongue in cheek remark by the author of the article).

Ein doppeltes Missverständnis

A twofold misunderstanding. One has to ask, what motivates Karzai. it seems, that he heads mafia-like clan structures and strictly follows his interests instead of the countries interests.

The misconception on the American side was, that a well dressed, fluently English speaking guy that never contradicts was a viable candidate for president.

The misconception of Karzai was, that although he came to power by questionable means, he could hold the power by questionable means and for an unlimited amount of time. Karzai NEVER actually understood the democratic system; on the contrary, he found it necessary to fake elections he would have won anyways (2004 elections). He thinks he has the RIGHT TO REIGN and his clan totally agrees with that.

Dreister Wahlbetrug

Brazen election fraud. At least a quarter of the cast votes was faked. hundreds of votes were filled out with the same handwritings. Civillians and police were witnessed to fill out votes en bloc and by the hundreds.

ECC, the election control comission, was powerless as members and their families were massively threatened if they didn't bow before Karzai.

Karzais team tried to avoid closer scrutiny and in-depth investigation by all means. Peter Galbraith, Vice chief of the UN mission witnessed how sorted, illegal votes were declared legal again and protested publicly against this. He was fired by Ban Ki-Moon, UN general secretary (!!!!! visualize the implications of this for a moment !!!!!).
The voting fraud, however, could not be covered up anymore and Karzai allowed a second election round that didn't come to pass because his opposition candidate threw the towel after none of the election responsible people were replaced.

Zur Partnerschaft verdammt

Damned to partnership. Now, Karzai turned the facts and accused the foreigners of election fraud. And he quickly signed a law that allowed only afghan nationals to be part of the ECC. No international oversight whatsoever anymore. And now the hammer: US politicians applauded the "afghanisation" of the coming elections, and Germany remained silent.
Robert Gibbs, speaker of the white house: people are frustrated, but no alternative to working with Karzai is viable at this point.

Alles für Macht und Geld

Everything for power and money. Karzai profits enormously of the current situation and the helplessness of the west. His clan is involved in every single lucrative contract with the west and multiple members of Karzais family are suspects in murder, drug dealing en gros and about every other shady deal in the book.

I realize that those two articles are not directly linked to the murders in the video, but they sure help to paint the big picture of what is going on over there and who is motivated by what.
My conclusion is, that in face of the overwhelming corruption under Karzai, people are likely already asking if they weren't better off with the taliban in power.

It might help to google some of the names in the articles, there could be some leads in other MSM-News.

I expect to be back on Saturday.
Stay vigilant, everybody.

Alright, found some more information on the whole happening:
Wiki entry
Details the attack and lists some noteworthy facts.

English Stern.de Page
I found this article when I goggled Louis Maxwell, the correct name of the victim.

The Huffington Post Article also goes into great detail.

I wonder what the status of investigations is.

Here's another story about this incident:

www.wired.com...-24101#ixzz0mRpzfGIE

Back in October, five United Nations employees were killed during a Taliban raid on their compound in Kabul. Now, Germany’s Stern has obtained video of the incident that seems to suggest that Afghan police deliberately shot and killed Louis Maxwell, an American citizen who was working as a UN security guard — and who saved the lives of several of his colleagues during the shootout.

A statement issued yesterday by the press secretary for UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said that Maxwell “may have been killed by Afghan security forces who may have mistaken him for an insurgent.” Maxwell, a close-protection specialist, “died protecting his United Nations colleagues, many of whom are alive today because of his heroic actions,” the statement added.

The statement –based on the results of a UN inquiry that has not been made public — also left open the possibility that three other UN staffers may have been killed by friendly fire.

Among security contractors, the incident has sparked outrage. “Someone please make sense of all of this, because this smells,” writes Matt at Feral Jundi. Danger Room pal Tim Lynch, writing from Afghanistan, is also skeptical. The G36, he notes, “is worth a fortune here.”

The UN’s response has not been particularly helpful in clearing things up. The four-member Board of Inquiry set up late last year to investigate the incident has not publicly released its findings. “The relevant findings of the report have been shared with the Afghan authorities and other relevant stakeholders have also been informed,” said the UN in its bland prepared statement. In other words, the public — and probably Maxwell’s family — aren’t entitled to read it. Hello UN, transparency?

However, the UN is following through with some additional steps. According to the UN statement, Under-Secretary-General for Safety and Security Gregory Starr is supposed to lead a team to Kabul next week to discuss the investigation with Afghan authorities.

Read More www.wired.com...-24101#ixzz0moR1GZV5

My favorite part is, "The UN’s response has not been particularly helpful in clearing things up." Whoa, big surprise there!
