If your god "knows" about all of this stuff, then why does he allow it to happen? Why, being omnipotent, does your god even allow such creatures to exist? Why not do a better job of "creating us in his image" and give us all super-powers to defend ourselves? Why create such beings in the first place? And on that note...why give such creatures the ability, talents and means to traverse the stars and commit such crimes against life? Why wouldn't your god just come down his own self and smite them? If aliens are demons [snicker]...then...if we went to another [your] god-fearing planet, wouldn't it's inhabitants have every right to call us "demons" too? Why wouldn't your god do a better job of having your bible written and state things clearly, instead of using parables and jargon? Why doesn't your god just make things better for everyone? Why would your god give a race of creatures far more menacing than us the ability to create such destructive technologies to be used against us and not give us the same technologies? Why hasn't your god updated his bible to be more contemporary?

I'm going to go out on a limb here, not to promote "religion", but to make some valid points.

First, how do you know KNOW we weren't created with super powers? I know for a fact that we were, but there's a catch to being able to use them. Therein lies the problem for most people. Are you willing to do what it takes to tap into them? Not likely! So if we, as a population, aren't willing to do what it takes, then that means we are NOT doing the things we should do and leaving ourselves wide open for demonic activity (for lack of a better word). What are demons? Are they aliens? Are they people? Are they spirits? Are they the government? Who knows?? Does it even matter? Evil is evil, regardless of where it comes from. All people have ever had to do was to follow a few rules and......yes, I'm going to say it.....love one another. The emotional frequencies emitted by the human body when exhibiting love is a veritable force shield. What brings that force shield down? Hate, jealousy, anger, and all the other negative emotions.

Here's my problem with modern Christianity....they take a perfectly good book (the Bible), and twist it, turn it, and shove it until people cringe at the very mention of it. There is special mention of people who do this in the Bible, by the way, and woe unto them that do! God does not have kind words for people that turn others against God by the way they try to promote their own interpretations of his word.

If people could step past "religion" long enough, and put aside their hatred long enough to look into the deeper messages of this book, it is FILLED with hidden meanings and wisdom that is NOTHING like what you would get sitting in a church. These messages won't reveal themselves to casual passer-by's though, so you have to ask God to reveal them to you, and keep asking. Read other religious materials in the same way - there are keys scattered everywhere! You will be very surprised to find out that not only do super powers exist, but there is a clear pathway to obtaining them. However, once you obtain them, you won't need to use them, nor will you be allowed to use them in front of others, because it would promote worship of you instead of God...unless you were in a community of people who had these.

In Hinduism, they are called Siddhis, and in Buddhism, they are called Iddhis.

Eight Major Siddhis

An accomplished, Purnayogi in the path of Kundalini Yoga is in possession of eight major Siddhis, viz., Anima, Mahima, Laghima, Garima, Prapti, Prakamya, Vasitvam and I#vam.

1. Anima: The Yogi can become as minute as he pleases.

2. Mahima: This is the opposite of Anima. He can become as big as he likes. He can make his body assume a very large size. He can fill up the whole universe. He can assume a Virat Svarupa.

3. Laghima: He can make his body as light as cotton or feather. Vayustambhanam is done through this Siddhi. In Jalastambhanam also the power is exercised to a very small degree. The body is rendered light by Plavini Pranayama. The Yogi produces a diminution of his specific gravity by swallowing large draughts of air. The Yogi travels in the sky with the help of this Siddhi. He can travel thousands of miles in a minute.

4. Garima: This is the opposite of Laghima. In this the Yogi acquires an increase of specific gravity. He can make the body as heavy as a mountain by swallowing draughts of air.

5. Prapti: The Yogi standing on the earth can touch the highest things. He can touch the sun or the moon or the sky. Through this Siddhi the Yogi attains his desired objects and supernatural powers. He acquires the power of predicting future events, the power of clairvoyance, clairaudience, telepathy, thought-reading, etc. He can understand the languages of the beasts and birds. He can understand unknown languages also. He can cure all diseases.

6. Prakamya: He can dive into the water and can come out at any time he likes. The late Trilinga Swami of Benares used to live for six months underneath the Ganges. It is the process by which a Yogi makes himself invisible sometimes. By some writers it is defined to be the power of entering body of another (Parakaya Pravesh). Sri Sankara entered the body of Raja Amaruka of Benares. Tirumular in Southern India entered the body of a shepherd. Raja Vikramaditya also did this. It is also the power of keeping a youth-like appearance for any length of time. Raja Yayati had this power.

7. Va#vam: This is the power of taming wild animals and bringing them under control. It is the power of mesmerising persons by the exercise of will and of making them obedient to ones own wishes and orders. It is the restraint of passions and emotions. It is the power to bring men, women and the elements under subjection.

8. I#vam: It is the attainment of divine power. The Yogi becomes the Lord of the universe. The Yogi who has this power can restore life to the dead. Kabir, Tulsidas, Akalkot Swami and others had this power of bringing back life to the dead.

Minor Siddhis

The Yogi acquires the following minor Siddhis also:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst.
2. Freedom from the effects of heat and cold.
3. Freedom from Raga-Dvesha.
4. Doora Darshan, clairvoyance or Dooradrishti.
5. Doora Sravan, clairaudience or Doora Sruti and Doora Pravachana.
6. Mano-Jaya, control of mind.
7. Kama Rupa: The Yogi can take any form he likes.
8. Parakaya Pravesha: He can enter into another body, can animate a dead body and enter into it by transferring his soul.
9. Iccha-Mrityu: Death at his will.
10. Devanam Saha Kreeda and Darshana: Playing with the gods after seeing them.
11. Yatha Sankalpa: Can get whatever he likes.
12. Trikala-Jnana: Knowledge of past, present and future.
13. Advandva: Beyond the pairs of opposites.
14. Vak-Siddhi: Whatever the Yogi predicts will come to pass by the practice of Satya, Prophecy.
15. The Yogi can turn base metal into gold.
16. Kaya-Vyuha: Taking as many bodies as the Yogi likes to exhaust all his Karmas in one life.
17. Darduri-Siddhi: The jumping power of a frog.
18. Patala-Siddhi: Yogi becomes Lord of desire, destroys sorrows and diseases.
19. He gets knowledge of his past life.
20. He gets knowledge of the cluster of stars and planets.
21. He gets the power of perceiving the Siddhas.
22. He gets mastery of the elements (Bhuta Jaya), mastery of Prana (Prana Jaya).
23. Kamachari: He can move to any place he likes.
24. He gets omnipotence and omniscience.
25. Vayu-Siddhi: The Yogi rises in the air and leaves the ground.
26. He can point out the place where a hidden treasure lies.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to make the connection that all of Jesus' miracles (and miracles of other prophets and men of God in other religions) fall into one of these categories. It is not a fairy tale. But who wants to abandon their physical attachments, their cars, their games, computers and TV shows, their ego-driven lives? That's why these powers are little known in the mainstream. People exist today with these powers, some use for good, some for evil. But the bottom line is that we do in fact have access to them. However, if one pursues the path simply for the power, then you've already lost the game. See the irony here? Pursue the path for your own personal spiritual perfection, or not at all. The powers are simply a side effect, not to be abused in the process.

There are adequate answers to the argument from evil. However it often requires one to lose some of the presuppositions they hold dear. I prefer to address the problem in terms of an eschatological solution. God wants relationship and worship. God created sentient beings in the form of Angels and humans for this purpose. Freedom is a necessary component for worship and relationship to be meaningful. Freedom is not really free if choosing evil is not a live option. Evil is a result of the misuse of freedom. Some choose evil by folly or design. God is working this out for the maximum good but it is an ongoing process. Evil is very real and life can seem brutal and monstrously unfair at times. However, this is a very temporary condition. Life is short, those who choose Christ will conquer evil through him. I have faith in God's goodness and that we are in a process that will result in God banishing all evil as he has promised (Rev 21:4). In light of eternity, this brief challenge loses its sting.

There's enough evidence of such situations to justify a serious, examinating attitude.

But there's practically NO evidence to make ethical conclusions on who the good or bad guys are in such an alleged cosmic/hyper-dimensional war, except from human values and perspectives of truth, decency and compassion.

(And for those with specialist interests in higher academic syncretism some indications from scientific and/or speculative cosmology/cosmogony/some asian philosophy/gnosticism, but experience has shown me, that the general ATS interest doesn't extend so far).

And from a perspective of these human values, christian doctrines and deeds strongly suggest to me, that christianity has its origin with some bad guys (what the christians themselves would call 'demons'). It manifests as a very black religion indeed.

AGAINST this attitude of mine is a propaganda-publication, the bible, which with circle-argumentation states that it's true, because it's true. And history has clearly shown, how far christianity will go in brutality to enforce this (IMO) alien message of dominance, if verbal propaganda isn't enough to keep up a situation of a 'colony' with a local species sufficiently domesticated or terrorized.

I'm definitely not a KJV only advocate. I love how the NT is written in the KJV and the psalms are beautiful, but the historical books like Samuel, Kings, Judges etc are unreadable. However, you notice that older Bibles like KJV stay true to the original prophetic messages and intent. My NASB Bible with Dueterocanonicals (ex-Catholic) is a great resource when the KJV gets convoluted and unreadable, but I notice differences in key prophetic books. The Benai Elohim (sons of God) are rendered "sons of Heaven" in Genesis 6 and they split the joint Medo-Persian empire to make them represent the silver and bronze, thereby relegating Greece to the iron legs and removing the obvious references to divided Rome and the ten splintered kingdoms that succeeded it. I noticed another person quoting the NIV which I can testify is an overly dynamic, ecumenical, pile of crap whose only saving grace is it's accessibility. Modern Bible translations have a disturbing tendency to cover up the history of the fallen angels and their involvement in the world. The Sethite view is erroneous and can be traced to Christian and Jewish apostacy. Josephus' Antiquities of the Jews, Dead Sea Scrolls, 2Peter, and Jude show that the belief in Fallen Watchers was doctrine for over two millenia at the very least.
