Terror group's moves indicate plot to take over strategic West Bank

JERUSALEM – Members of the U.S.-backed Fatah organization recently were caught aiding Hamas in the establishment of a military wing in the strategic West Bank, according to security sources in the Palestinian Authority. The Obama administration has backed a Fatah-led state in the West Bank. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in November announced a 10-month freeze of Jewish construction in the territory in an attempt to jumpstart talks aimed at creating a West Bank PA state, a move that would first see an Israeli retreat from the area.

Following Israel's evacuation of the Gaza Strip in 2005, Hamas seized the coastal territory, forcibly expelling the U.S.-trained Fatah security forces of PA President Mahmoud Abbas. Now, recent occurrences indicate Hamas is attempting to set the stage for an eventual West Bank takeover.

The past two years, the U.S. stepped up its efforts at training the PA, running more advanced courses guided by Keith Dayton, the U.S. security coordinator to the Palestinian territories, who in 2007 initiated an advanced program for Palestinian police that trains 500 to 600 cadets at a time at the American bases.

I can't help but feel that the next big war will start right here-w/ Hamas at the tip of the whole mess-guilded and supported by Iran. Who is supported by China and Russia. Just a matter to a little more time-the tea kettle is just about to blow.

I believe Russia and China are positioning themselves to be in the best place at that time-both politically, economically and militarily. I think it is evident they are up to something-prbably right after we moth-ball the NSAS Shuttle program and we have no way of getting up above.... stuck on the ground; the loss of air superiority.

Well, what did they expect funding Fatah? Did they learn nothing from funding Bin Laden?

At the end of the day, their religion comes first to them. Push comes to shove and who do you think Fatah will support?

You can buy individuals over there, but organisations are a different story.

Could this be an Israeli conspiracy theory?

Interesting.

If it proves true or even if Israel has some evidence of this that they think is true this could be a new low point in the Israel/US relationship.

What could the US gain out of this? Perhaps they want to spur the Israeli's into an attack? Maybe they're playing all sides against the middle.

Hmmm, I hadn't even thought of it in the manner. Do you think the Israelies would do anything about it anyway? What can they do.

As each day passes with the Administration, the bleaker it look for Israel. Keep you eye on their media-you'll see they are thinking the exact same thing.

Actually I think what is going on is that many in the US govt. are slowly seeing that having this small country control our world policy is not the right thing. Along with the massive spying operations that have more than a few politicians in blackmail situations and alot of govt. employees showing more loyalty to Israel than the US. They see that our govt. has been infiltrated by another country and it's not good.

Interesting look at it. Care to say who you think in Gov't is looking at the concept of one small country running our policy (in that region at least)?

I think I can name some but I would like to know who you think. I will give you one. Obama?

Fatah and Hamas as organizations do not like each other. Hamas killed lots of Fatah members in Gaza "revolution" and Fatah arrests and persecutes Hamas members in West Bank to prevent Gaza scenario.
But some people from Fatah and Hamas can cooperate. There are smaller groups inside large groups, and there are semi-mercenary bands that change allegiance often according to who pays them more.
So it should not be breaking news in my opinion. If senior Palestinian administration members in West Bank would promote Hamas take over for some weird purpose - it is different story.

I'm sorry this sounds very VERY fishy to me. I'm raising the BS Flag.
Let it waft in the effervescent odor.
