What do you want to do with your new video card? 3d games, movies, renders, web surfing?

kmiker is a kernel mode driver... bla bla bla...
support.microsoft.com...

What would be helpful is if you could let us know what motherboard you have.

or.... do a system scan for viruses and malware.(windows)

Make sure your OS updates are installing.
(Windows or linux)

Find the updated drivers for your motherboard,SOUNCARD(s) and Video Card.(windows) Do you have more than one sound card ?

...and any other peripherals and add-cards you may have.(windows and sometimes linux)

Kmixer(windows) wiki

Make, model number,OS and any transcribed "errors" makes helping allot easier.

Make sure you back up user or personal files first.

Do a system scan for viruses and malware.
Make sure the virus definitions are up to date
Make sure your OS updates are installing.
Find the updated drivers for your motherboard,SOUNCARD(s) and Video Card. Do you have more than one sound card ?

I would suggest updating to Sp3,get the latest drivers and install a

new codec pack.

If you don't want to update to Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3), you could try installing directx to the latest version.
as well.

If you cant resolve the problems then I would suggest re-installing the operating system.
latest drivers.
new codec pack & directx
and anti-virus
in that order.

Do me a favor.

On your keyboard, if you have a Windows Logo button, while holding that down, press "R"

Then type "Dxdiag"

Then press Enter.

A window will pop up and a green bar will be filling up on it.

When the bar is done, click "Save All Information"

Save it as "DXDIAG.TXT" on your desktop

Open the DXDIAG.TXT with Notepad folder and copy everything.

Then paste it in a post here. From there on, I can help you further.
