Foam Gun?

Might any of you know any place where I can find info on a military non-lethal foam gun? I saw it on TV a while ago and it shoots foam around it's target and the foam hardens and traps the target. Very cool item.

Remember seeing it on tv also.It was deemed too risky to use in public because if a little bit of the sticky foam was ingested or inhaled it could kill a person by suffocation.It was cool to watch in a controlled test though....lol.

Apparently the US marines are experiementing with a lot of non-lethal weapons like that, as they believe future roles may require them to use non-lethal force more than lethal force

In November 2000, the US Marines� Joint Non-Lethal Weapons Directorate (JNLWD) conducted joint war games exercises with the British Amy in which they agreed that they needed to put civilians to sleep, and that the Chemical Weapons Convention stands in the way. One can read the entire document on the Sunshine Project�s website, along with many other interesting papers. The US Army�s Edgewood chemical facility was researching sedative drug weapons as early as 1994.

The Commander of the Joint Non-Lethal Weapons Directorate was quoted in the New Scientist as stating. �I would like a magic dust that would put everyone in a building to sleep, combatants and non-combatants.� That commander, Col. George Fenton was present for the London war gaming exercise where these new chemicals were discussed � and where the Chemical Weapons Convention was described as a challenge to their development.

Hey Guys 2 words, Fire Extinguisher

One of those would save lives in a riot it would have to better then shooting at people with rubber bullets.Lets hope the police the world over test and possible use this weapon as better option then a gun.I happy with anything that gives police more options.

A further danger of stronger incapacitating chemicals sprayed directly on to crowds is the impact it can have on changing police practices. In the 1960's crowd dispersion was seen as the key requirement so that the a provision of escape routes was part of the training packages used. With the advent of new paralysing systems, crowd capture becomes a possibility as foam barriers to seal off all escape routes become a precursor for mass arrest. This tactic was deployed against German anti-nuclear protestors in Wackendorf, over ten years ago, when 7,000 police were used to ring a crowd of 1000 activists. (See Fig 29). On this occasion chemical foam was used in area denial rather than capture so the example is illustrative. However, with the back pack sprayers now being produced, much fewer personnel could achieve the same tactic. This is part of the problem on the horizon.

I gotta get one of those. But who cares about a few dangers its still safer than most other crowd control options. I got to use one on my brother.
