I think you meant to say "condemns"? Normally, I'm not one to be the grammar police, but I wanted to correct this, before someone misinterprets what you stated...

I listen to Eminem i don't like all his tracks but some are good.
I won't let my kids listen to it, they are old enough to understand the content of the songs but if they hear it on the Radio or TV what can you do.

As far as i understand Eminem is banned from performing in certain places in UK espcially London one place is The Brixton Academy.

Honestly, their are gonna be people who sing about stuff you don't like. You should be happy with the fact that he is allowed to sing about what he wants. If you don't like what he sings about, don't listen to him. If you actually listen to what he sings you'd realize this is the kind of attention he feeds off of. Don't let your kids listen to it if you think it's garbage, but eventually they will listen to it, and its not gonna turn them into little miscreants unless you do your part as a parent and tell them what is right and wrong

There was a lot of this controversy back in the '60s. It was about the Beatles though. They did such horrible things to society. Let me tell ya. Oh man, and when the Doors played light my fire on National TV without excluding the part of the song about drugs, WHOA!

Music is a part of Life. Everyone has a different lifestyle. If you don't like it, tough sh1t. I'd much rather have people making music I don't like, then just one type of music. it creates diversity, and what is America without diversity. When the government tries to TELL me what I can and can't listen to, thats when I'll be pissed.

Personally, I don't care what kind of bad relationship he had with his mother, girlfriend, dog or rabbit, his crap that is peddled is just that-crap. It isn't the kind of input younf minds need, and it isn't the kind of input mature adults should want going into their computer. Fact of the matter is, garbage in, garbage out.

The real shame of it all is young kids glamorize that image portrayed by him and the rest of his ilk, and at the same time bash the President that sets a good example. Except with that "nukular" thing. That really drives me over the edge how he mispronounces that.

IMHO Eminem is a Lyrical genius, but a complete asshole. He is good at writing and is a talented artist but as a person i think (possibly due to his media coverage, this could be the image they want to put across) he's an as$hole.
One thing i'm sure of, he's not sat with his mates talkin about any of us.

hey like he says in many of his songs, which i'm assuming many of you don't listen to judging by your comments, he wants to "save this new generation of babies from parents who refuse to raise them cause they're lazy".. his dad left when he was a baby and his mom was a drug addict.. so he doesn't want more children to go through this and he tries to make people actually give a damn about raising their children and realize that it's a responsibility and kids are not just unfortunate byproducts of sex.. also, i can see how you may not like his music, as there are musicians and songs that i don't like.. i'm not saying you should all adore him, but he also says in a song he's here to make these kids "stand and fight for the right to say somethin you might not like".. now, i thought that this was the basic premise of free speech that everybody on this board stood for.. and like arc said, he doesn't actually do the things he raps about.. so unless you all want to start a police force to ban and arrest people for things they think, then you shouldn't be for banning him.. also, as a teenager i have to say that eminem is NOT the negative influence some of you are saying he is to today's youth.. he came from nothing and he had a talent and worked hard and it all came to fruition.. he is a role model and at the very least, a tremendously talented rapper

I think he pretty funny! Not in a haha way but the way that this cRAP is making an impact on the world! Its like subliminal # that is being broadcast and being accepted as mainstream music. Anyone can make a rhyme and anyone can put together a track on a pc these days with the instant music maker/no talent required software. Point and click, you have a hit!

I think I heard that M&M had something to do with Disney (corporation, not Wlat on ice!!
) in his recent past, like when before he was famous??

The music while sometimes having a tolerable beat is extremely damaging to me, its a bit soul destroying when hearing of the crap that sings about, as if someone is deliberately picking the subjects for his music an intensifying the feelings produced by the broadcasting of it!

I didn't put that too good... I mean that the lyrical matter is specifically built around making the listener feel depressed and alienated, a sense of hopelessness in the world at large today... Well it depresses the cRAP outta me! Knowing that talentless bums become super heroes at large!!

I agree with AF1. Music is a reflection of society and not the other way round. Music is an art form, and as an art form it's about expression, and mostly it's not literial. The lyrics are just part of portraying the overall emotion/statement/postion that the artist is trying to convey. Eminem is a choirboy lyric wise compared to others that have been and gone.

And talking of Bruce springsteen, I'm not saying he's unamerican, but how many of you know what the song 'Born in the U.S.A' is actually about?

Name of thread- What do you think of Eminem?
Nans post- Bruce Springsteen opposes the war in Iraq?

Please show me the relation here. You take every opportunity you find to turn things around. So Bruce's name came up because of this music-related forum, does it matter how he views this war? Personally, I'm tired of your #.

Back to the music aspect, I'm curious what Born in the USA means.
