Parents plead for return of 7-year-old son
Dad, mom being allowed 1 hour visit every 5 weeks

A plea has been sent worldwide for moms, dads, brothers, aunts and grandparents – in fact anyone – to contact Swedish authorities and ask them to return to his parents a 7-year-old boy taken into police custody over a dispute that includes the family's decision to homeschool.


As WND reported last June, Swedish police barged into a passenger jet awaiting departure from Sweden to India and forcibly took into custody Dominic Johansson, 7.

The Home School Legal Defense Association and members of the Alliance Defense Fund have been advising Christer and Annie Johansson on the "state-napping" of their son as they were preparing to move to India, Annie's home country.

I know Germany has had some issues regarding Homeschooling children too.
They don't think the parents have the right to decide to teach thier kids at home.
Ya know....parents could be teaching the children how to be terrorists.
Bunch of BS.

Governments view home-schooling as a great threat to their attempt to control every aspect of a citizen's existence. It becomes virtually impossible to "shape" young minds to their way of thought, if a child is home-schooled. Hitler realized that early in 1938:

Children are not allowed to opt out of classes or school activities and homeschooling is illegal in Germany since Adolf Hitler outlawed it in 1938.

There is perhaps no greater threat to freedom of thought than the attempt by radical elements of most governments to outlaw homeschooling. Every effort should be made to resist such efforts, if freedom of thought is to prevail.

I have 2 children schooling at home.My 5yr old has a diagnosis of Autism and has thrived since i took her out of the Education system,my 11yr old is doing very well and is above average in every subject.
I adore schooling at home and so do they.
When i took my 11yr old out of school(legally might i add and with friendly,written correspondence between myself and the Headmistress),i got a visit from the Education Welfare officer and the local home education liason.One of them actually said that she would refuse my right to home educate if she were 'legally' able to do so.I simply replied that she wasn't and forced a polite smile

We should be able to have the RIGHT to make decisions that will benefit OUR children.
My children already think 'outside' of the box,they won't agree to being forced inside it!!

Although in the case of Runyon v. McCrary, the Supreme Court ruled that homeschooling is legal, and cannot be BANNED by states, it also ruled that states MAY set standards for homeschooling. Various states have handled that in different ways. Briefly, in 2008, a 3-person court in California virtually outlawed homeschooling, by requiring parents to in essence be licensed teachers. However, after much outrage, and legal maneuvering, the court reversed its decision.

I have no doubt that further attempts will be made, however.

doesn't seem logical to force people to quit homeschooling in places with modern technology, mass media, and internet. the kids get their fair share of the system, regardless. they learn what they need and don't need, how they are expected to behave, perform and think on a variety of issues, to survive and/or fit into "civilized" society. dunno why lawmakers are worried about homeschoolers, to be honest.

might've been an issue in hitler's or stalin's time, but today, with modern media distribution, i don't see the rationale. our kids can and in some cases, have, been remotely trained via the internet, gaming, the tv set, the radio, popular music, popular books and via socialization in related venues, to fit the mindset most advantageous to the social engineers of the system in which they live. what's the big deal?

One of the two driving forces, as I stated, are the teachers unions. Less students in public schools mean less jobs for teachers. It's all about the money.

I hope very much that the little boy in the OP will be reuinited with his parents soon and soemthing will be done to help this family.

As a homeschooler myself, I wish I had homeschooled all of my children as I find my older children, as bright and well qualified as they are, find it very difficult to 'think' for themselves or study of their own volition.

My youngest, who I teach, will pick up and read constantly and studies without pushing and is doing very well.

Thinking 'out of the box' comes easily to her, wheras i have to constantly challenge the thinking of my older children.

My eldest, who is 25 now, and says she wishes I had homeschooled her, is now reading everyting I encourage her to read and researching all kinds of interesting subjects that she never knew existed from her experiences at school. This girl, or young woman I should say, did very well at school and even has a Maths degree, but has only started to think for herself in the last year or so. Up until that point, every thing I tried to teach her she challenged as 'teacher knows best' was her saddening attitutde.

Now she is beginning to 'understand' what I have been telling her for years and she is studying for herself.

I have only found much encouragement from all the education officials we have had contact with in the UK with regard to home education.

I don't know how long it will last. I suspect no government wants its citizens to be able to challenge their lies and think for themselves.

Afterall, 'government' means, put simply, Mind Control.

But, I hope, that even should my youngest be forced to return to school, she will always be able to think out of the box.

Once schools get their hooks into your child for 6 + hours a day, that is a lot of 'mind control' and thought conditioning and very difficult for a parent to deprogram.

I expect the EU will ban home schooling outright within the next few years but I hope to continue for as long as possible and wish the best to all parents who are doing their very best for their children.

Our children have had their sense and understanding of true mental freedom taken from them and it is a gift that we should all have!
