Killing of top al-Qaida leaders to improve current security situation in Iraq?

news.xinhuanet.com

BAGHDAD, April 19 (Xinhua) -- Two top al-Qaida leaders in Iraq have recently been killed in a joint operation in north of Baghdad by U.S. troops and Iraqi security forces, but questions remain on whether this will greatly improve Iraq's fragile security.

"A cell from our intelligence killed Abu Omer al-Baghdadi and Abu Ayyub al-Musri during operation in Tharthar area in north of Baghdad," incumbent Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki told reporters in a televised news conference Monday.

Good news from China'a top English news source xinhuanet.com. The fact that Xinhua is ok with the killing of the bad guys of al queda is positive. In the old days of the 50's to 70's China always favored the rogue elements around the world. Perhaps China is becoming a responsible world citizen? Or trying to?

This is all good news for the west and the Iraqi people!

One of the things that truly perplexes me is the frequency of such reports by the military. It seems as if every few days, they killed the "top military" leader(s) of Al Qaeda. It reminds me of the "Viet Cong body count" reports that the military put out during the Viet Nam war. When you totaled those reports up, they apparently killed off the entire population of Vietnam many times over.
IMHO, this is nothing more than an attempt to justify the cost of money and lives for these war adventures that have actually produced nothing positive for the security of the US or anyone else for that matter.

The Bush administration produced many of these reports, and now Obama, supposedly elected to get us out of these foolish adventures, continues the same route as Bush.
