Why is United States military budget so high compared to Russia’s?

Russian losses in Afghanistan * 451 aircraft (includes 333 helicopters) * 147 tanks * 1,314 IFV/APCs * 433 artillery guns and mortars * 1,138 radio sets and command vehicles * 510 engineering vehicles * 11,369 trucks and petrol tankers enough said

As another poster pointed out these losses were due to US terrorists supplying stinger missiles and other arms. The afghan's nowadays do not have any backing with modern weapons. Imagine what the US losses would be if they were given stingers or iglas.

I love ATS.

Yeah, the US supplied weapons to the Muj fighting against the Russians when they invaded A-stan. Everyone seems to get their mom's panties in a bunch about that. "The US was a buncha terrorists! They were supplying weapons!"

Damn, what a shame. How come no one seems to remember the weapons that the Soviets and Chinese were supplying North Vietnam? Probably one of the reasons why the US supplied the Muj in the first place; give the Soviets a little taste of payback for Vietnam. Sucked, didn't it?

Or how about when the Soviets were giving away AK-47s to everyone and their dog back in the 1960's and 70's? Seems like most posters on ATS have very selective and short-termed memories.
