What are you doing surfing at school? You're supposed to be doing your homework.

No problem getting on the site.

oh, now i understand. Your at school. Well they probebly have some program that blocks out the most popular sites or something. Or they know many people visit the forum.

Its a filter.

Schools, offices, work places, etc often use filters that stop all computers in said "area or workplace" from accessing certain websites.

No conspiracy...you are just not allowed to go to Alex's site while at school.

I used to visit video game forums while at work. Then for a couple of months I didn't use the computers at work. When I started using the computers again, all my game forums were blocked
Basically, it's probably because someone looked at browsing history and decided that site isn't appropriate for learning purposes. I'm sure the same would happen if you went to a web site with flash games on it

Honestly though, it's school. You're there to get brainwashed in the way "they" want you brainwashed -- docile, predictable and easy to manage. Shut up and be obedient already!

They could have looked at browsing history. But a place where I used to work would get a disk once a month or so from someplace that would run domain names, types of sites (porn comes to mind), etc and they would update the servers from the disk. In other words places that could be deemed time wasters when we are supposed to be working, or in the OP's case studying.

lol it was so flaky that we all got blocked out of CNN at one point. That didn't last long. But the one site that got the most attention was when they blocked out EBay. Ha ha the supervisors screamed so loud we could almost hear them in the next building.
