Insurance Claim Bad Faith

I was robbed approximately three months ago. I filed a claim, but it appears that the insurance company is doing unethical things and in bad faith to deny our relatively small claim. My laptop with serial numbers and purchase dates was stolen, as well as our safe with the data stick with photos.

We have had the claims investigator approach our minor children and question them without our presence or permission. We have been called liars. Our insurance company has accused us of not living in the residence and all sorts of other small but devious attempts to discredit us.

If any of you have had a bad experience with an insurance claim, please post.

In particular, I am interested in the limits of an investigation. Can they be monitoring my internet service, phones and other information? Should I get an attorney? Did you get an attorney to handle your claim?

I appreciate any information regarding this unscrupulous industry.
