States' Rights: Why can't WE ban nuclear weapons?

Yes, banning all nuclear weapons would be nice. Unfortunately, a lot of people like nuclear weapons.

Great posting on the preamble.

I was going to mention the power vested under congress by the Contitution:

To raise and support Armies, but no Appropriation of Money to that Use shall be for a longer Term than two Years;

To provide and maintain a Navy;

To make Rules for the Government and Regulation of the land and naval Forces;

To provide for calling forth the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions;

To provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining, the Militia, and for governing such Part of them as may be employed in the Service of the United States, reserving to the States respectively, the Appointment of the Officers, and the Authority of training the Militia according to the discipline prescribed by Congress;


With the final point being that State's can not make nuclear weapons illegal because the State's right's consist only from this:

10th Amendment:

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

Common defense, including nuclear weapons, is under the Constitution, not a State's right's issue.

We need to think outside of the box, find creative ways to stop the violence, and the potential destruction of the Earth.
Why does the U.S. need enough nuclear weapons to destroy Earth several times?
Why can't the international community ban the weapon industry all together?

If we spent just a fraction of what has been spent on wars and murder on making the world a better place, there would be no hunger or poverty.

I agree with everything you've said; for whatever reasons unrelated to the recent summit, the topic of nuclear weapons has been on my mind lately.

Once found, you think it can be unfound? A discovery undiscovered?

Someone WILL have them. Do you really not understand that?

So......you want to get rid of your Nukes.

AND your country is rich.

AND you think that this would have no consequences.

I suggest putting all your expensive electronics on your front step, leaving your keys in your car, keeping your door unlocked at night and annoucing this evening to everyone that you've done so. Don't forget to give out your address. Continue this annoucement everyday for a week.

I'm sure that your openness and will to work with people for the greater good will be honoured by all.
