just a question to see where others stand. With all the events that are taking place.....Volcano Eruptions...Frequent Meteor sightings......A rash outbreak of Major earthquakes.....The eventual collapse of the American Economy looming.

Rumors of a Coup"peaceful take over of the U.S.Government"..Some evidence the we are headed for WWIII..Freak weather storms..Growing Terrorist Threats...A rash of Solar Activity(CME)..and a further list of others i could add to the list

How serious should i be about survival preparedness ? Should i be secretly Balls to the Walls stocking up ? just wanted to get some thoughts from others about how far off will it be before TSHTF...and what are others doing to prepare and your feelings on surviving all of these threats or upcoming events

You are the best judge of your life and environment. If you believe that there is reason to prepare, prepare.

My family is reasonably prepared for a catastrophic event, the government has attempted to be extremely prepared in a world catastrophic event.

If for instance a super volcano erupts after all of these earthquakes and smaller volcanic eruptions going off, you will wish you had prepared. What are the odds of that happening? I have no idea.

Frankly though always try to be rational.

The odds that you'll die to a terrorist attack are lower than the odds that you'll die to lightning strike or accidental drowning.

I hear stories that the super volcanoes 'could erupt at any time' and would essentially create a nuclear winter without any nuclear bombs going off. I'd say that other than that occurring naturally and out of the control of humanity our risks for extreme situations requiring extensive survival preparation (stockpiles, underground housing, etc) are extremely low.

The end of the world has been just around the corner since the beginning of written history. The sky has always been falling. Of course, that means that when/if it actually does fall most people will be unprepared from "boy who cried wolf" effect.

Dont worry, the 24/7 media is just doing its typical job of freaking out people whom pay too much attention to every natural bump in the night kinda thing.

But keep a few bottles of water and some spam around..."just in case".

These are all normal natural occurrences. The number of meteors, earthquakes and volcanoes are all well within their naturally current frequencies.

Answer to the OP.

No.

It is not time yet.
Natural events are unstoppable.
You only need to bunker down when things are happening in your town.
You can't stop earthquakes or power outages.
But, you can be extremely prepared for them.

If you see event taking place that will effect your well-being.

Then I'd say its time.

Now is the time to learn skills and practice. if you haven't, change your life and life-style to meet any challenge.

For instance, you may not face the end of the world, but you may face a snow storm or a blackout, or in the S.East US, a hurricane or tornado. Be prepared... we always keep a goodly amount of food and supplies on hand...just in case.

The skills come in once you've run out of the initial stocks of food in a prolonged circumstance..ie end of world. Learn to use basic tools, learn to make tools, learn how to eat off the land.

Let's say...worse case, there was an EMP and the electrical grid went down indefinitely...what would you do? What would you need? That's what you need to fix now.

Like I've said before...learn to live like grand daddy did, and you should be fine... Good Luck.

the truth...
if you lived along the US mexico border like I do , you'd already be stocking up and guns and ammo... not going into the back country alone or unarmed... but if I lived in Kansas I just might be fishing
