Microsoft, others accused of breaking 'every single labor law in China'

www.techspot.com

The National Labor Committee has released a new report accusing Microsoft and other tech giants of -- get this -- abusing Chinese workers. It's said that the software company has contracted a factory owned by KYE in Dongguan, China that uses up to 1,000 students aged 16 to 17 during the summer as part of a "work study" project.

For $0.65 an hour students perform labor such as assembling mice, scanners, keyboards, and more for up to 15-hour shifts. Most stay for a period of three months, but others remains for six months or longer. In addition to school kids, the factory reportedly prefe

This looks pretty bad.

These poor people only make 65 cents an hour, after meals etc, their take "home" pay (which is the factory) is only about 52 cents.

Please visit this link China's Youth Meet Microsoft for the whole article published by the National Labor Committee.

One picture of the "yard" at one of these factories looks a lot like a concentration camp to me. Just with newer buildings, fencing and lighting.

I'm not sure if the MSM has gotten hold of this story yet, but if what these workers are claiming is true, then Microsoft, HP, Samsung, Best Buy, Acer, Logitech etc, etc, have A LOT of explaining to do.

Absolutely disgusting.

THAT is the very reason why the corporations
moved their operations to foreign soil was to
take advantage of of lax labor laws and low
wages. It hurt America real bad.

And now the same snake is biting them in the
@r$e over there. I bet right about now, they
wished they had never left the USA.

They pi$$ed on the American worker and now
the Chinese are pi$$ing back on them.
I say, GREAT
they get what they deserve

China has labor laws? news to me. But again the title of the article is a bit misleading.

For $0.65 an hour students perform labor such as assembling mice, scanners, keyboards, and more for up to 15-hour shifts.

But the pics clearly show chinese kids sleeping for 65 cents an hour.

j/k. Pretty screwed up though.

Everyone knew stuff like this was happening. Everyone just ignores it so they won't feel guilty when buying cheap crap at the store that is made overseas.

Yeah it sure "looks" cheap don't it? But I promise you it cost more than we can ever imagine. The price in human blood, suffering, poverty, SLAVERY.

Well China ain't crap I tell ya.

Southeast Asia and Indonesia/Malaysia are way worse. But no one wants to know, they all pretend it ain't true. It's global slavery system essentially.

India, Africa, South America. It even happens in Europe! Especially Eastern Europe!

It is even happening in AMERICA! Yep Slavery is alive in America!

Labor laws are a joke. They have no teeth. And they are too watered down in the first place...

Why is "illegal immigration" such a hot topic for people in the States?? "They took our jobs" is a common meme is it not?

Why did corporations give so many jobs to illegal immigrants anyways in the USA???

TO Avoid Labor LAW.

This saves them a TON of $$$$!!!

Profit profit profit at ANY cost!

I don't think the Chinese have ever put the words Labour, and Law in the same sentence, so I am surprised.

I thought they would give those companies a pat on the back. Guess not.

On a serious note, as the poster above me stated, slavery and labour issues are rampant throughout our world.

Why?

Cause we want cheap, reusable products, and we want MILLIONS of them.

Cause and effect.

Our lifestyle has caused this problem. Sure companies are to blame for actually doing the practices, but they are just giving what the people want, and these are the means to that end.

Yep.

That is why the only way to free these people from slavery, is to stop buying these products they make.

We have to actually take their job away, so they can get a better one in the future.

This means we personally have to work harder, because we will have to pay more for locally made goods.

But this in effect, takes some of the load off of our slaves overseas.

Too bad though, NO ONE will go for that!

Sad world we live in. The slavery will probably continue for a few hundred more years at the Least....

Only Robots can solve this dilemma. Robot slaves....

But will the robots eventually turn on us?

Robots turning on us is completely a fantasy. There will always be an "off" switch.

I never understood why didn't use EMP in the Terminator Movies...would have been so easy to knock them all out.

Please everyone,

learn, and use Linux.

Ubuntu is "where it's at".

Dont pay these people to be the slave masters of others any longer.
please.

as stated a few times here in the past...

I will help anyone who desires,
to rid themselves of this virus,
i mean operating system, sorry.

congrats M$, more shame for you.

Clearly, in M$'s eyes..
it is far better to be a slave master
than it is to be a "pirate" who shares info freely.

I'm actually a recent convert to Ubuntu. I still HAVE to use M$ Windows for work, but all home PC's will (soon) be Linux only.

After reading this article, I'm not sure I will buy anything from Best Buy, Microsoft or any of these companies again. Micro$oft of all companies should know better. You know, Bill Gates and all of his humanitarian work.

The only power that us little guys have is with our wallets. That's also the problem.

Western consumerism likes to bury its head in the sand and not think about where, how and by whom these products are made, because they're cheap.

Since you guys are big on bashing Microsoft, let's not forget to give "credit" where credit is due to the other companies, like say, Apple. Like your iPhone? Your iPad? Your iPod? Look what you're contributing to by buying one:
