Thanks serbsta for sharing this information S&F.

If I were him I would be as low key as possible - wouldn't you be as well? Imagine a life where you are being given very sensitive information all the time - yes I know you all feel giddy just thinking about it - it's not exactly the best life really though... you're held responsible for that information, for protecting the people who give it to you, and most of for protecting yourself. And protecting yourself would not be easy.

I'm sure the US government would love to get their hands on him alive and have him working for them, considering he cracked the encryption (or at least helped) on the latest videos that have surfaced. And from what little is known about him and his hacking skills, I'm sure he has gotten much better over time.

Hopefully Wikileaks stays alive and even more so hopefully they sooner or later give out information regarding things that will forever change history, allowing people to finally be aware of the horrible things going on in this world. I can only have faith that there are going to be more people who are willing to risk their lives for the sake of humanity and give up sensitive information to be released publicly.

By the way, he's 37 years old... I'm good at telling peoples ages and by looking at him that's what I would say - 37.

Good thread,

I guess the less people know about him, the better. I wonder if he sees himself as "Off Grid"?

I was wondering who was behind Wikileaks. I wonder if they have a satellite constantly monitoring him. The deep voice is a little distrubing, but I haven't listened to the video yet.

Did he invent the 'worm' or 'virus?' 1989 is pretty early in the internet and computer age. If he was hacking with modems just imagine his capablities with cable, dsl, or T3! He could be controling the entire internet!

I'll tell you right now a front man, who is easily grabbed like himself... will have the basics down. But no organization that he belongs to would risk putting there brains out there.

I'm willing to bet he doesn't even deal with sources, and doesn't even know the people within his organization who do.

wikileaks has become pretty good at the spy game. This guy knows what he is. He is initial guy you start to chase down if you are interested in the organization.

he's a stall, you watch and watch and nothing happens, you scrutinize every detail assured you missed something, somewhere he is making the drop somehow.

wikileaks is very good at this and highly doubt this guy has any other job than public relations and making himself look important.

These people are better than the CIA and such, they are bloated with people who don't know #, wikileaks is full of A++ skilled individuals with a goal in mind, not a paycheck. This is why they will succeed.

It's very interesting to note that Mendax had a very deep voice for his young age, a characteristic which is still present in him today

LOL I'm sorry but what does this have to do with anything? Ok so he has a deep, piercing voice. So do I. It's not a magical power...

You're missing the point.

Mendax, the unidentified hacker in the book has a deep voice and a lot of what is written about him matches with Assange. The fact that they both have a characteristically deep voice and a lot of other information (growing up) correlates gives more support to the fact that Mendax is none other than Assange himself.

Thats the whole thing, the book goes very far not to identify the hackers yet clearly states that the hacker in the book has a deep voice?

I see this as disinfo to draw attention and give credit to julian.

If any of you know what kind of hackers there are, there are ones that do it for the fame, and ones that do it for the greater good.

These guys are supposed greater good hackers. if julian was truly the hacker in the book, he would not have wanted to be identified(the deep voice thing is identification even if it doesnt give the name's.) because that doesn't fit his character profile.

This is all calculated to make it look like Julian has some kind of involvement, which i highly doubt he does.

He even goes on record to say "i have the final say". Now if you are worried about your security you do your best to dodge things like this. However if you are trying to draw attention...yea.

so far I've found nothing, no dirt to smear the man with.

You haven't actually found anything out about him which isn't already public record. There's a lot of people in Australia with computers, and no doubt a good amount would say they care about truth.

Good research on the hacker group, though. Never heard of that before.

He seems to be like I was at a younger age when I was in the hacker realm, (I went a different path, joined the military, and truly learned the dark nature of the world and TPTB) He is probably above all else a information junkie. One of my sayings is this. If information is knowledge and knowledge is power, than information is power (Of course this is not always true, but it is a guiding principle). Good luck to him.

Hackers eh?

Directive regarding hackers:

Prime candidates who expose qualities and talents above and beyond the typical should be captured and assimilated into the intelligence community.

It is all making more sense now, and getting more confusing.

Interesting thread and information.

Thanks for the post OP.Dont his eyes show a deepseated contentment?
Would be interesting to know if he is a christian. Yes he has a look of authority about him. So if he is doing good in the long run, hes welcome and we should be thankful for his work.
But I do also get a creepy ans sinister feeling about him, but its just my feeling. Would I personally like him to be my close friend. No.I wonder if some of you feel the same.

Cheers

Our modern day Austin Powers....Man of Mystery.

Interesting topic! I think he is being quite candid about the reasons he chooses to remain a mystery. He wants to live.

Do you even read wikileaks?

Or are you turning this into a some sort of bull# TMZ festival.

What more important, tens of thousands of leaked documents or a gossip about some blond dude.

Good on this guy glad to see there are people out there that still want to give it to the government. I would surely join his side if i could wouldn't it be awesome if there were more of him in this world that could join together and screw the government altogether and get the real truth about all of what the government is hiding from us that we should all know.

Was just thinking this also, what the world needs desperately right now is many more people like this guy to stick it to the corrupt and malicious governments to expose, and perhaps conquer them through truth.

It's the 'whistleblowers' which put their life on the line and submit things to wikileaks that are the heroes and revolutionaries.

The reason he doesn't talk about himself much is probably just to keep people from thinking it's all about him, like you and others are starting to sound.

What I thought was most interesting was the part that said
"the natural progression of a highly intelligent child raised on the run, who found solace alone on a computer and anonymous camaraderie in cyber space."

I know a lot of people that started at young ages learning OS's and hacking away at computer problems while chatting on IRC, forming little groups...

...and the conversation WAS GOOD. It wasn't everyday drivel - and almost all the folks I know eventually became....open to conspiracy theories that held merit, distrustful of politics and govt., socially progressive, antiwar.

Maybe seeking out information and learning in the vast world of cyberspace can and does all lead any intelligent person to similar conclusions.

This guy is straight out of an underground comic book and/or cyberpunk story.

In my honest opinion, he's now one of the coolest MOFOs in the world.

Godspeed to him and his efforts!!

Viva la revolution! Hack the planet!

They have to let men like him alone, especially so soon after the release of such things. Plus, they know who he is so they can better keep an eye on his associates and sources. If they kill him they run risk of making him a martyr to the disenfranchised portion of the population who will rightly not buy the suicide or accident angle. It's been said when will people revolt or will they ever. The truth is there's no way to know what the tipping point is, but, history is clear that there is one.

BTW: All hacking is is knowing the computer language you are programming in better than the other guy. That's it. No magic. No mystery. Just one author versus another. The more detailed you make your instructions in whatever language you are using the more efficient it is. Like telling a robot what to do step by step. If the sites are banned, so what, embed the thing into the pocket space of the web and bypass the routers by using wifi. Something like that. The point is where there's a will there's a way. If they shut down the whistleblowers, they may inspire the next generation who will bypass their presumed authority altogether. Surely TPTB think about these things.
