Anyone have any information on the Hermetic Order Of The Golden Dawn?

Their work was a very interesting mixture of Kabbala, Celtic Pagan, Jesuit Enochian, and Byzantine magiks. From what I have heard and read they put together quite a library in enclaves in London and the Alps durring the first quarter of the 20th Century.

I would be interested in knowing which books they had, what happened to them, if they wrote any of their spells or teachings and any other general information one may have.

It was an international Rosicrucian organization founded by members of the Masonic Rosicrucian Society of England in the late 1800�s. Unlike its Masonic ancestor, it admitted women and non-Masons, and taught to its initiates the esoteric sciences and philosophies.

Just to clear up any misconceptions, the Jesuits had nothing to do with either the Enochian system of Magick or the Golden Dawn. The Enochian system was devised by Dr. John Dee, Royal Astrologer to Queen Elizabeth I, both of whom were Anglicans, not Catholics or Jesuits. Also, there is no Celtic Pagan content within the Golden Dawn.

Aleister Crowley, a former member and Adept of the Order, published much of the Order�s formula and ritual in his serial �The Equinox�, but in a very disorganized manner.
To correct this, Dr. Israel Regardie published all of the Order�s degree initiation ceremonies up to the Grade of Adeptus Minor, as well as the curriculum of the Order which taught its initiates ceremonial Magick. The book is called �The Golden Dawn�, and has reprinted by Llewelyn Publishers.
In the 1920�s, Dr. Paul Foster Case, Chief Adept of the Alpha et Omega Temple of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn in Chicago, formed a new organization that would make the Order�s teachings more approachable and comprehensible. He called this new organization the School of Ageless Wisdom, which eventually changed its name to Builders of the Adytum. I have been a member of this Order for many years.
